EDITORIAL: Justice foils FOIA
The Washington Times ^ | 1/28/10 | staff

The Justice Department is withholding documents demanded by this newspaper under terms of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA). In so doing, the department is asserting privileges that do not exist or do not apply. Ironic as it may sound, Justice seems to be breaking the law.

The Washington Times' FOIA request asked for documents pertaining to the department's controversial decision to dismiss a civil complaint accusing the New Black Panther Party of intimidating Philadelphia voters on Election Day 2008. In response, the department said it would withhold 69 documents totaling 135 pages, including interdepartmental e-mails, drafts of court filings and briefing materials. The department claimed that "deliberative process" and "attorney work-product" privileges exempted the material from disclosure.

Let me put it in legal terms that all of us can understand: “these is brothers man and we ain’t giving you nothin, so screw off whitey”. I am sure that there is a statute somewhere that says this.

This is nuts!

If no crime was committed, which most folks would consider as fact since no indictments have been sought, what’s to hide?

Well, for one, one of those men caught on tape intimidating and threatening people coming to vote was a Democrat party activist.

Ann Coulter said once that George W Bush’s objective in his term was to get 2 or even 3 SC conservative SC Justices on the SCOTUS. Even if Dubya’s term/s were failures, Ann argued that the prez told her during the beginning of 2001 that if he got 2, he would be happy. He got them in Alito and Roberts.

oh come now!!!

this is the most open, honest, impartial, fair-minded, brilliant, and “transparent” administration in history

I’m sure that anytime they blow off FOIA requests it is for only the best of reasons and motives.......

[hope we don’t really need a sarcasm tag for anyone]
