As I said on Monday when I wrote about this, the politics of it are a no-brainer. And getting to be more so every day: If you believe Michael Barone, the Dems are now staring not at a 1994 wave but possibly a 1974 wave, when congressional Republicans were obliterated by the deep blue tide that washed in after Watergate. If they don’t repeal this soon, they may not have the votes to try again for a long time.
Even if you disagree with rescinding the policy, take comfort in knowing that the roll call in the House and Senate will be pure fun to watch. I’m sure they’ll have some bipartisan support for doing it; the question is how much — and how many skittish Blue Dog “no” votes will have to be replaced. Exit question one: Is The One going to demand any deadline for doing this or will it be another of his “no, really, soon” promises? Exit question two: John Shalikashvili already weighed in on Obama’s side earlier today. Can Colin Powell be far behind?

So based on that, Obama's next big policy initiative will have to be midnight basketball since he's crashing himself against the rocks with the other two already.
Tossing a ‘bone’ to his favored perversion group will go a long way towards winning the hearts of the middle class.
Perhaps it is to distract, however that doesn’t work, except on liberals. Most Americans are quite capable of multi-tasking, we are equal opportunity critics. ;)

Tnx for the background. Despite the “convention,” I still think of republicans as blue and democrats as red. When someone says “red state” or “blue state,” I have to stop and think about which is which every single time.
So what do we have:
Obama to ask for a repeal of don’t ask don’t tell.
Obama, Pelosi and Reid to continue to press their healthcare by pushing this through congress.
Obama to try to demonize Wall Street and destroy everyone’s investments.
Obama to propose an immigration bill.
Thank God. I was worried that they would back off in an attempt to mitigate the damage in November. I just wonder how many times tonight Bush will get blamed?

This is a different shade of the PC that allowed for the Ft Hood massacre (continuing sentence) but that’s not to say gays are murdering asswipes (more) but to say the military system is subverted by special interests that divide and compromise the purpose of the military.
I see this as nothing more than a special interest platform.
No one has a RIGHT to join the military. Anyone who wants to join has to follow the rules.
