Poll shows Scott Brown could top Obama in Prez run

If Scott Brown has kept President Obama up at night, there could be more sleepless nights at the White House thanks to a new poll that ranks the senator-elect as presidential timber.

A Newsmax/Zogby poll shows the Massachusetts Republican within striking range of Obama in a hypothetical presidential matchup.

The poll shows the pair statistically deadlocked if the presidential election were held today.

The online news site, newsmax.com, reported that Obama leads Brown by 46.5 percent to 44.6 percent among the 4,163 respondents in a poll with a plus or minus 1.5 percent margin of error. Independent voters, who helped propel Obama into office in 2008, favor Brown 48.6 percent to 36 percent.

Former Bush strategist Mark McKinnon told Newsmax, “The real problem for Obama is that he has lost the middle, and losing the middle means losing independents . . . if you lose independents, you’re going to lose the presidency.”

Good grief. Brown hasn’t even done anything yet. Who would elect an unaccomplished person to the presidency? I ask you!

The thrill is gone
The thrill is gone away
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away
You know you done me wrong baby
And you’ll be sorry someday

The thrill is gone
It’s gone away from me
The thrill is gone baby
The thrill is gone away from me
Although I’ll still live on
But so lonely I’ll be

The thrill is gone
It’s gone away for good
Oh, the thrill is gone baby
Baby its gone away for good
Someday I know I’ll be over it all baby
Just like I know a man should

You know I’m free, free now baby
I’m free from your spell
I’m free, free now
I’m free from your spell
And now that it’s over
All I can do is wish you well

By the time he is finished with 2010, UNDERDOG will top Obama in the polls. But that doesn't mean we should ELECTED a cartoon character to replace the empty suit.

With all due respect to Scott Brown, from what I have heard of him he sounds like he is grounded in good principles, but he is not qualified YET, to be President of the United States.

If you strip away the socialism, Marixism, islam sympathies of Obama you STILL would have a bad President because of his lack of DEPTH in many key policy areas.

As much as I like Palin and Brown, I think they have some growing to do. Let's not make the same mistakes the Democrats on the left have made. The Presidency is not a popularity contest. The Presidency is a tough job, reserved for men and women of depth and character.

If we elect a conservative with no experience, we will only be marginally better off that with Obama. At least Brown wouldn't have his morality right, but that doesn't mean he can Captain the ship.

Pretty much tied with zero at this point.

Actually, this is almost as distressing as Zero’s ascendancy to the White House as it shows people are still inclined to pick national leaders with an “American Idol” mentality.
Of course, if such a fantasy contest actually happened ,the media would be assaulting Brown from day one.

Mr Obama, the wave is coming.

Mr Obama, come January when we take over the house & senate it is then we will hold hearings into Dodd. Franks, Raines & yourself.

It is only fair that those responsible for our near economic collape be held to account.

The dog & pony show in DC is over. It is time we turn the tables on these Committees & start asking the Committee Heads (Dodd & Franks) some questions.

A new day is looming.

Obama is SOOO 2009.

That said, I think that Scott Brown is — at this point, anyway — not qualified to be president.

Neither of ‘em is ready or qualified to be POTUS.

It would be better to postulate that the people who were queried in the poll should not be allowed to vote since they apparently don't have the capacity to make rational decisions.

“people are still inclined to pick national leaders with an “American Idol” mentality”

It has been that way for awhile, that’s the only thing that explains a transition, in four short years, from Pres. Reagan to Pres. Clinton.... probably goes back to Pres. Kennedy.

Silliness indeed. I think it's just pollster-driven crap. I seriously doubt it means that Brown could actually be elected. However, it does indicate yet more squishiness on the part of Obama's numbers.

It's pretty much another worthless poll except as a general gauge of the state of mind of the electorate.
