Reaching more than 14,000 feet above sea level, Mount Shasta is one of the state's tallest peaks, dominating the landscape of high plains and conifer forests in far Northern California. Nearby Indian tribes referred to its glaciers as the footsteps made by the creator when he descended to Earth. Hikers flock to Shasta every summer to scale them.
With glaciers retreating in the Sierra Nevada, the Rocky Mountains and elsewhere in the Cascades, those on Mount Shasta _ a volcanic peak at the southern end of the Cascade range _ are actually benefiting from changing weather patterns over the Pacific Ocean.
"When people look at glaciers around the world, the majority of them are shrinking," said Slawek Tulaczyk, an assistant professor of earth sciences at the University of California, Santa
Climate change has cut the number of glaciers at Montana's Glacier National Park from 150 to 26 since 1850, and some scientists project there will be none left within a generation. Lonnie Thompson, a glacier expert at Ohio State University, has projected the storied snows at Africa's Mount Kilimanjaro might disappear by 2015.

Glaciers in Alaska are growing.
Ping.

fyi
And the ones in Everest are doing fine, now that the liars have been exposed.
Glaciers grow for two reasons: snowfall and cold. Warmer sea temperatures for incoming storms off the Pacific coast or Gulf of Alaska result in more snowfall - sometimes a helluva lot more snowfall. Those in snow country have seen this — too cold often results in not much snow, temperatures just below freezing often results in lotsa snow. As long as the temperatures on the glacier prevent too much melting (only below 32 F, not below 0 F) so that more snow accumulates than melts, the glaciers will grow. In normally extremely cold areas, a slight increase in temperature results in a helluva lot more snow — more than enough to make up for warmer summers.

Same for the Himalayas — warmer sea temperatures result in more snow in the mountains even if at somewhat warmer temperatures. Same for Europe where a warmer Mediterranean and Atlantic results in more snow even if at somewhat warmer temperatures. Same everywhere — including Antarctica and Greenland. Most anyone who has lived in snow country knows this. It’s the storms just below freezing which dump enormous amounts of snow.
Mighty, fertilize your whole garden, heavy duty BS ping!
I hope Portage comes along soon.
Meanwhile, Al Bore needs to look seriously at global cooling..........
Even where glaciers really are retreating, it cannot be blamed solely on temperatures. It could instead be due to less precipitation, i.e. Kilimanjaro. The alarmists don’t want to talk about that.
See link at #9 for more....
I don't bother reading an article that starts with a lie.
Introduction to Glacial Processes
This stuff I learned long before there was any such hoorah about global warming. Yes, I'm that old. Back then some were worried about global cooling.
Here’s a (partial) list of the
specific glaciers that are growing:
