ping...
but you have to stay inside the lines.
Randall A. Terry (born 1959) is an American activist. A political conservative, Terry founded the pro-life organization Operation Rescue, famous for group-blockading the entrances of abortion clinics, in 1987, and led the group until 1991.[1] He has been arrested more than 40 times, most recently for protesting the commencement visit at the University of Notre Dame by President Barack Obama, who is pro-choice, by defying a court order to stay off the school's property.
In 2003, Randall Terry founded the Society for Truth and Justice and conducted a program called Operation Witness. He was the spokesman for the Schindler family in the Terri Schiavo case. In 2006, he unsuccessfully ran as a Republican for state senator of Florida's eighth district.
This argument was BEFORE Scott Pelly told the world that I had thrown kids in the street, in front of Tiller's clinic.
FALSE! I had been trying to get kids to crawl out from under a car, in front of the driveway to the clinic!
Anyway, Randall Terry does not seem to care about end results, or the PR consequences, or the danger involved in some of his tactics.
He looked pretty isolated at the March for Life - he was shilling some book or DVD of his with a bullhorn on the sidewalk across from the Supreme Court, but very few people approached him in the hour or so I was standing across from him.
I applaud the well meaning intentions of Randall Terry.
But.
But when his actions harm the cause; he needs to be corrected.
I seen similar scenes myself several times.
“it’s unthinkable — perhaps almost maddening — that slaughtering babies is not only legal, but big business, condoned self-righteously.
but you have to stay inside the lines.”
Really? So, if it were Jews instead of babies would you have the same scruples about staying within the lines?
If I'd stayed in college, I might have learned the Latin name for this kind of inflammatory bullshit.
He was at the March for Life yapping at full volume about how, "if you don't want to be marching 50 years from now, you'd better learn about social revolution..."
Then your position is that Jews are human beings and babies aren’t? Nothing inflammatory - just trying to get to the bottom of your principles. BTW, the “style” of argument is reductio ad absurdam.
Stupid lefties think if a time machine were to whip John Brown into our time that he'd be a lefty. I say drop him in the middle of San Francisco and let's see how "left wing" he would be.
Operation Rescue goes all Wobbly-Kneed?
Christ didn’t demand non-violence from his disciples:
Luke 22:35-38
35: And he said unto them, When I sent you without purse, and scrip, and shoes, lacked ye any thing? And they said, Nothing.
36: Then said he unto them, But now, he that hath a purse, let him take it, and likewise his scrip: and he that hath no sword, let him sell his garment, and buy one.
37: For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
38: And they said, Lord, behold, here are two swords. And he said unto them, It is enough.
The Child murderer would have by now killed thousands more helpless children, had the Earth not been clensed of his satanic presence by Scott Roeder.
These people are deeply confused, and I’m glad my old friend Randall is taking a stand here.
While I’m personally opposed to shooting abortion doctors I certainly don’t feel it’s right to impose my morality on others.
Could you be so kind as to explain in some detail how standing up for the heroic protection of unborn children "harms the cause?" - What do you see as "the cause?"
How many more children do you suppose might be dead at the hand of Tiller the Killer, had Roeder not sacrificed himself?

I’ll answer your question with a question: If you think Terry’s actions are reasonable, then do you oppose Operation Rescue’s press release here as they “distance” themselves from Terry?
Who’s right here? Terry or Operation Rescue?
I retract my questions. I see upthread you’ve already answered them.
You oppose Operation Rescue.
‘Nuff said.
Save your strawman points for halloween!
I don’t oppose Operation Rescue, I have supported them financially; they have abandoned the cause because it’s become less than comfey.
Terry is right to stand with Roeder. If you had witnessed Tiller standing with a daggar in his hand, poised to take the life of a newly born child, would I be correct in assuming that you would have taken his life if necessary to stop him?
Nothing there huh?
