The Republican National Committee holds its winter meeting in Hawaii this week, and party activists may offer a resolution imposing a litmus test on GOP candidates. The brainchild of Indiana lawyer James Bopp Jr.who has done yeoman work fighting campaign-finance limitsthe resolution would bar RNC support or cash to any candidate who agrees with fewer than eight of 10 conservative principles.
The litmus list includes: support for smaller government and lower taxes, troop surges in Iraq and Afghanistan, the Defense of Marriage Act, containing Iran and North Korea, and gun rights; as well as opposition to ObamaCare, cap-and-trade legislation, "amnesty" for immigrants, union card check and government-funded abortion. We're not sure Mr. Brown would have made this cut.

Instead how about
- Strengthening the Constitution (to prevent runaway liberalism)
- Reversing the excesses of the Obama administration and the recent Congresses
- Overhaul of the federal tax system
- Overhaul of the judiciary
In short - a revolution to put it back the way it was. A very tall order.
Seriously, if an R can’t support at least 8 of those then he does not deserve support.
Why can’t an R that supports 8 of those positions win Independents votes.
What 3 does Sen Brown Fail?
Sen Brown opposes federal funding for elective abortions in accordance with the Hyde Amendment.
Did you right this the wrong way? How can you be for State's right and not have it in the platform is the better question.
Ms. McCain here demonstrates why the test won’t catch any RINOs who don’t want to be caught: http://www.freerepublic.com/focus/f-news/2437060/posts
The RNC has basically become the quintessential Washington, D.C. insider...
RNC/DNC/ABCNC - All mail from them goes right in the garbage, unopen.
Note the mocking italics. Also, we are not talking about immigrants, we are talking about illegals.
“We're not sure Mr. Brown would have made this cut.”
Of course he would have, easily.
These are all necessary Constitutional concepts. Anyone calling himself Republican who opposes more than 1 or 2 of these should very definitely be viewed with the deepest suspicion.
1. Support for smaller government and lower taxes
2. Support troop surges in Iraq and Afghanistan
3. Support Defense of Marriage Act
4. Support containing Iran and North Korea
5. Support gun rights
6. Oppose ObamaCare
7. Oppose cap-and-trade legislation
8. Oppose “amnesty” for ILLEGALS
9. Oppose union card check
10.Oppose government-funded abortion
Mine too I donate direct to the ones I want.
These and other test won’t Stop Rino’s that wish not to be cought. This is true.
But you can get them on record. When they fail, you can justify an insurgency better.
"Nearly all of the specific, "enumerated" Legislative Powers of Congress are spelled out in Article of I Section 8 the Constitution. By our count, there are twenty listed in Article I, Section 8, and plus two others found in other parts of the Constitution. You can read the list for yourself (Background page)".
"Because these powers are delegated from the people, they are the only Legislative Powers Congress has. But our Founding Fathers went further -- trying hard to make enumerated powers so obvious that even a politician couldn't miss the point. They passed the Ninth and Tenth Amendments to shut the door to claims of additional power" . . .
There is no need to butcher the English language like the Left loves to do. Illegal immigrants are immigrants. They migrated here from another country. There are legal immigrants and illegal immigrants.
Pretty much...
Don’t throw it away. Send at least one piece of the stuffer back to them without anything written on or answered. The postage is already paid for. I include Rubio campaign literature.
I’m not even sure about that. When’s the last time you heard a Pubbie say he supported amnesty—though far too many of them do?
government funded abortions? No way...how about absolutely pro-life and no abortions at all!!!
I am referring to the editorial (1)mocking the word "amnesty" and (2)referring to illegals as "immigrants." Illegals do not deserve the positive term immigrant any more than a burglar or prison escapee does.
Still, I suppose some litmus test is better than none.
Sadly, when the left uses the term “immigrants,” it always means illegal immigrants. This is just another one of their word games that attempts to obscure the real meaning of what they are saying and doing and cast the worst possible light upon their opponents. Who can come out and say they’re opposed to “immigrants,” in a country built on them?
But aside from that, this prevents people from discussing the real issues: not only how to stop illegal immigration, but what kind of immigration is to be made legal and encouraged. Do we need more Muslims? I think not. But increasing Third World Muslim immigration - LEGALLY - is one of the Obama’s objectives. So we should discuss that, too, but we can’t.
The Dems use the catch-all word “immigrants” to confuse, to make their opponents look bad and to prevent discussion of the real issues.
Imo, this will not limit rinos (they will just lie). It is designed to limit the influence of libertarian/conservatives. The result less constitution and more bickering over social issues.
- Overhaul of the judiciary
These are too hopey-changey for me. In what direction would the overhaul go? One overhaul of the tax system might be to greatly increase the rates, which is what an democrat overhaul might look like. A Democrat overhaul of the judiciary would be to impeach every Reagan and Bush appointee.
Please, get specific, and specifically conservative. e.g.:
Right on, I send all RNC and others my own Conservative manifesto and or articles by Burt Prelutsky or others, telling them when they get in line with me I will support them.
Of course I do it with their prepaid envelopes.
