HEADLINES TODAY
We do not want that policy discussed at this time.
Update (Ed): When Politico went live with this article, I had confirmed with two people I know on the Hill that they had seen this being passed around. Did it come from Democrats, or from Republicans? I cant answer that, but I did confirm with two sources that it exists.

Violation of Hatch Act?
Crossing a Line in the Health Care Debate? White House Sending HC Propaganda to Federal Employees?
The White House Office of Health Reform Director Nancy-Ann DeParle has been feverishly sending out unsolicited email messages to federal employees in an effort to build support for President Barack Obamas health reform package over the last several weeks.
DeParles unsolicited emails have been regularly coming to some federal employees official government email inboxes for weeks without permission or request, causing some federal employees to feel threatened by the overt political language.
The Department of State employees, who receive hundreds of official government emails every day, have complained about the annoying and partisan emails but are nervous to go public for fear of retribution. The emails are addressed to the federal employees by name and use the official .gov address.
The unsolicited emails also request that the federal employees take action in order to ensure that Obamas health reform package is passed and the federal budget isnt at risk for bankruptcy. One federal employee was so concerned about DeParles language in one email that he questioned whether his departments budget would be cut or eliminated without passage of Obamas bill. DeParle uses scare tactics that some assume are meant as threats:
No ifs, ands or buts about it -- if we do nothing to reform our broken health care system, costs will continue to skyrocket and break the budgets of American families, small businesses and the Federal Government, read the March 12th email from DeParle.
Thank You for your dedication on this, I’ve been out for a few days (wish I could be in DC this weekend!!) I don’t have a link for the Iowa Gubenatorial candidates’ (VanderPlaatz) statement as I had just heard it on the radio when I posted it.

Hatch Issues a Warning as Harry Reid Stays in Town [Kathryn Jean Lopez]

WASHINGTON With prolife House Democrats attempting to fix portions of the Senate health care bill that allow taxpayer funding of abortion as a separate measure, U.S. Senator Orrin Hatch (R-Utah) said today that they should remember that neither the Democratic Leadership in the Senate nor the White House has given any assurances that it would secure the necessary 60 votes to pass the Senate. Hatch issued the following statement:
Prolife Democrats in the House, who supported the Stupak amendment, are coming under intense pressure to vote for the Senate health care bill and are desperately trying to find a way to change those provisions that allow taxpayer funding of abortion.
I wish it were that easy. But to my friends in the House, who are looking to pass a fix separately, I have a regrettable piece of news: I tried to include a strict prohibition of federal dollars for elective abortion in the bill in December, but my amendment lost by a vote of 54 to 45.
Absent an ironclad guarantee from Senate Democratic Leadership and the White House, which Ive not seen, the only way to ensure there is no taxpayer funding of abortion is to vote no on the Senate bill. I dont know many Senate Democrats whod go along with this.
