“Turkey police arrest 120 al-Qaeda suspects”

SNIPPET: “The arrests were made in co-ordinated pre-dawn raids in 16 provinces, said the state-run Anatolia news agency.”

SNIPPET: “Friday morning’s raids netted weapons, fake identity cards and camouflage clothing, unnamed police officials said.

Suspected leaders of al-Qaeda cells in Turkey - including the local group’s leader, Serdar Elbasi - were reportedly among those detained.”

SNIPPET: “The raids, which took place in cities including Ankara and Istanbul, came after 33 suspected al-Qaeda members were arrested in Ankara and Adana earlier this week.”

For some reason I think the Turkish interrogative techniques are a bit more, shall we say robust, than in the US.
