SNIPPET: “A trilateral summit involving the presidents of Turkey, Afghanistan and Pakistan begins on Monday and will be followed by a regional summit the next day in a show of solidarity for Afghanistan in the new era.
The meeting Monday, to be attended by President Abdullah Gül, Afghan President Hamid Karzai and Pakistani President Asif Ali Zardari, will be the fourth after the November presidential elections in Afghanistan. The first trilateral summit was held in May 2007, the second in December 2008 and the third in April 2009.”
SNIPPET: “Three-way talks will be followed by a regional summit Tuesday in Istanbul bringing together the foreign ministers of China, Tajikistan, the Iranian deputy foreign minister, and the vice president of Turkmenistan. Other participants are expected to be British Foreign Secretary David Miliband, U.S. Special Envoy to Afghanistan and Pakistan Richard Holbrooke and the Russian deputy prime minister.”
