Actually, now that you mention it, there is an E-mail that my wife got last Friday (she said she was going to forward it to me) talking about a judge somewhere that was going to view the birth certificate issue. I don’t know if it is an old one or currant.

To me it is not unthinkable that DemocRATS could push the “birther” issue. The USS Obama is sinking fast and Dems are jumping ship at an alarming rate. The longer Obama stays in office the greater the damage to the Dems. Wouldn’t it be more than ironic if it was the Dems that forced Obama out. I’m not holding my breath but it is a possibility.

Should Obama be removed from office, it becomes the ultimate opportunity to play the race card, because the still-“conservative” Supreme Court would have to “conspire” with the "racist" Republicans to force Obama’s departure from office. Democrats could swear Obama’s innocence, a repeat of the Lewinsky defense, in which Bill Clinton came out more powerful politically. The Democrats could raise the race issue with the Republicans until the end of recorded time for removing the first Black President from office.

Another possibility on this avenue is that the democrat party is disgraced forever and Americans refuse to ever vote for a democrat again after they knowingly foisted an illegal candidate upon American and then lied about it for a couple of years. The conspiracy criminal charges could (and should if it were true) remove the top half of the democrat party leadership.

Or, if as you suggest here, Obama is removed but the democrats continue to deny it, then we get civil war.

Consider this scenario, the Democrats actually let “birther” investigations to go forward, publicly condemning the Republicans for pushing the issues, while quietly not impeding or even facilitating them . Two outcomes can happen. Obama is proven eligible and the Republicans are embarrassed and fall from public grace.......

This argument was given earlier when Clinton and Obama were running for nomination. It obviously did not happen.

The only weak spot I see in your theory — not that I see the Rats taking this route, however — is that there is one huge risk for the Rats:

If Obama were found actually to be ineligible for some reason, yes, in this theory, the Rats benefit by shedding Obama without having their fingerprints on his downfall.

But I think this underestimates the anger that would be exploded at the Rats for (1) doing nothing to vet the eligibility of their own candidate, (2) the sheer amount of crap this President has put the country through and he was never even eligible to serve, (3) the years of Rat cauterwalling about how stupid and dangerous birthers were only for the birthers to be proven right, and (4) the dawning realization that the system, most particularly the Rats, compromised our Constitution and our national security by opening us to a Manchurian candidate.

IOW, even if the goal were to get rid of Obama and that was accomplished, this “victory” would still be at a very high political price for the Rats. I think if something that fundamental as to eligibility were proven, the anger that the Rats fielded such a nominee in the first place would be incredible. This would be the unpardonable political sin.
