Saudi billionaire eyes new links with News Corp.

By TAREK EL-TABLAWY, AP Business Writer – Sun Jan 17, 8:15 am ET CAIRO – The Saudi billionaire whose investment firm is one of the biggest stakeholders in Rupert Murdoch's News Corp. said he is looking to expand his alliances with the media giant, in the latest indication that his appetite for growth remains robust even as his company retrenches.

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a nephew of the Saudi king and who was listed last year by Forbes as the world's 22nd richest person, met with News Corp.'s chief executive Rupert Murdoch on Jan. 14 in a meeting that "touched upon future potential alliances with News Corp.," according to a statement released by his Kingdom Holding Co. late Saturday. Media reports have indicated that News Corp, parent to Fox News and Dow Jones & Co., among others, may be thinking of buying a stake in Alwaleed's Rotana Media Group, which includes a number of satellite channels that air in the Middle East. Neither company has commented publicly on the possible deal, but the talks offer an indication yet that such an agreement may yet be in the offing.

Kingdom Holding's statement said Alwaleed is already the second largest stakeholder in News Corp., with 5.7 percent of the shares of the media company. The stake is held through Kingdom Holding, in which Alwaleed holds a 95 percent stake.

The investment company has a diverse portfolio, ranging from hotels to shares in Apple, eBay and Citigroup.

“Despite his disturbing background and connections, Bin Talal has many prominent Americans, both conservative and liberal, snowed”

Saudi financial jihadist prince eyes new links with News Corp.

Posted by shariahfinancewatch on 18th January 2010

The Saudi billionaire whose investment firm is one of the biggest stakeholders in Rupert Murdoch’s News Corp. said he is looking to expand his alliances with the media giant.

Prince Alwaleed bin Talal, a nephew of the Saudi king and who was listed last year by Forbes as the world’s 22nd richest person, met withNews Corp.’s chief executive Rupert Murdoch on Jan. 14 in a meeting that “touched upon future potential alliances with News Corp.,” according to a statement released by his Kingdom Holding Co. late Saturday.

Bin Talal’s involvement with the parent of Fox News is worrisome for a variety of reasons.

First of all, Bin Talal’s financial influence poses a threat to fair and balanced news at Fox because Bin Talal is anything BUT fair and balanced:

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2010/01/jihad-what-jihad-saudi-prince-meets-with-rupert-murdoch-to-discuss-future-potential-alliances.html

And Bin Talal’s influence has already been used in the past to influence Fox News’ reporting–at least according to Bin Talal himself:

http://www.jihadwatch.org/2005/12/saudi-prince-to-murdoch-jump-murdoch-to-prince-how-high.html

There is much to know about this man, Bin Talal.

First of all, he has financed and hosted telethons to raise money for Islamikaze bombers:

http://www.militantislammonitor.org/article/id/1109

Bin Talal is a big backer of Islamist organizations in the US, including the Islamic Society of North America, an unindicted co-conspirator in the Holy Land Foundation trial, the largest terrorism financing trial in US history. It should also be noted that ISNA has been revealed to be a front for the Muslim Brotherhood, the original Jihadist organization:

http://www.isna.net/events/Special-Announcement/HRH-Prince-Alwaleed-Bin-Talal-ISNA-Fellowship-Program.aspx

Despite his disturbing background and connections, Bin Talal has many prominent Americans, both conservative and liberal, snowed:

http://www.forbes.com/2010/01/16/alwaleed-kindgom-holding-company-intelligent-investing-citi.html?partner=yahootix

Bin Talal’s influence is spreading thanks to the largesse bestowed upon him by his membership among the Saudi ruling family. He uses his money to buy influence and then he uses that influence. Here is a list of the entities that he has wrapped his tentacles around:

We should all keep a close eye on Bin Talal, a key player in the global financial jihad, and hope that Fox News turns back his continued advances…

In an interview with Niel Cavuto, he said forcefully that his commitment to Rupert was forever. He will not cut and run when Rupert dies.

It can be argued that he sees the best way to protect his global investments is to assure a strong American capitalist state insured by a free press and counter voice to the Marxists that now prevail.

A strong and well financed News Corp is that voice.

The great thing about this is if FOX News turns its colors there will be another network that will come on the scene to crush them that will be backed by conservative money.

You’re quite the eager apologist, aren’t you?

I do not trust the words of a Saudi billionaire that finances global terror roots (see above link).

Double-speak and sweet deception are two of the most finely honed gifts of the Arabian and Persian empires. They are VERY smart people.

Hmmm. Troublesome. I do not like it. It explains O’Riley and Shep though.

Glen Beck is the spoiler in all this and is a more or less a loose cannon. He now has a lot of money, is he is financially “safe” and can work ANYWHERE HE WANTS and his audience WILL FOLLOW. He is too driven by the truth not to sooner or later break out and spill everything. (I hope)

The Prince bothered me the first time I saw him being interviewed by Neal Cuputo on Fox. He let to much of his Liberalism show.

May explain why we never seem to hear any criticism of the Saudis while they promote the most radical version of the Islamic faith?

Beck started to pay attention a couple years ago. It blew his mind. It is a real awakening when you become aware of what is really going on. It happened to me 20 years ago. I am glad a lot more citizens are paying attention. Truth is starting to come out.

I think the expression goes “the truth will set you free”

Meanwhile many here insist on shackles and bondage, blinded to the truth by bias and bigotry

Just a guess:

When Israel needs the support of the US after blowing up Iran's Nuke program the Mossad will tell Obama that they are holding ALL of his PAPERS and send copies to the White House to prove their claim.

Obama will give Israel whatever they demand to keep the story bottled up but Israel will leak the story before the 2012 elections. If Obama trys to twist Israel's arm they will release the information in Sept. of this year!

Charitable activities

Much of the charitable activities of Al-Waleed are in the field of educational initiatives to bridge gaps between Western and Islamic communities by funding centers of American studies and research in universities in the Middle East and centers of Islamic studies in western universities

In October 2001, following the World Trade Center attacks, New York mayor Rudy Giuliani turned down a $10 million donation from Al-Waleed for disaster relief after the prince suggested the United States “must address some of the issues that led to such a criminal attack,” and “re-examine its policies in the Middle East.” Giuliani interpreted his statements as drawing “a moral equivalency between liberal democracies like the United States, like Israel, and terrorist states and those who condone terrorism.”[7]

In 2002, Al-Waleed donated 18.5 million British pounds ($27 million) to Palestinians during a TV telethon following Israeli operations in the West Bank refugee camp in Jenin in response to a suicide bombing that killed 29 Israelis. The telethon was ordered by Saudi King Fahd to help relatives of Palestinian “martyrs”, which the Saudi government defined as “Palestinians who are victimized by Israeli terror and violence,” and insisting the money wouldn’t reach the families of suicide bombers. Prince Al-Waleed bin Talal stated that half of his pledge would help rebuild Palestinian infrastructure destroyed by Israeli forces, while the rest would be donated in the form of goods, including 100 vehicles and clothing.[8][9] However, a member of the Palestinian Legislative Council said that “some money will go to the families of suicide bombers.” [10]

In 2005, the Prince contributed $17 million to victims of the 2005 Indian Ocean earthquake which resulted in a tsunami.[8]

I have been thinking about this. I was thinking a disgruntled Cia agent might leak it. Or KGB holding it over him. Or maybe even SOROS.

Easy. Roger moves - creates a new cable network - the old FOX dies - and everyone’s the richer. ( Well, not the Sauds...)
