Young activists adding fuel to antiabortion side [WaPo actually covers March for Life!]

I went to the March for Life rally Friday on the Mall expecting to write about its irrelevance...How wrong I was. The antiabortion movement feels it's gaining strength, even if it's not yet ready to predict ultimate triumph, and Roe supporters (including me) are justifiably nervous.
As always, we in Washington enjoy an up-close view of the health of various causes because of the city's role as the nation's most important setting for political demonstrations. In this case, I was especially struck by the large number of young people among the tens of thousands at the march. It suggests that the battle over abortion will endure for a long time to come.

Not much of a surprise. Much of their generation are the victims.

"The antiabortion movement feels it's gaining strength, even if it's not yet ready to predict ultimate triumph, and Roe supporters (including me) are justifiably nervous."
Why? Because children would then get to live?

The left has aborted their babies, and is more likely to have smaller families.
They should not be surprised to find the amount of young people prolife increasing.
The demographic that they are counting on to stay in power, the illegal immigrants, mostly from the latin countries, are mostly prolife, even though they may not vote that way.

Roe v Wade will end when enough Americans wake up to the slaughter. Its good to hear more young folks are getting the message. Turning a blind eye to abortion on demand will assure this holocaust continues.

Why does the media always call it the antiabortion movement instead of the pro-life movement? For some reason this always bothers me. Perhaps I am too sensitive to the language.

And although he still lacks the five votes needed to scrap Roe, which established a constitutional right to abortion in 1973, Chief Justice John G. Roberts Jr. warned explicitly in a Supreme Court decision Thursday that there was no "inexorable command" that the court must preserve past rulings. I'm not convinced they lack five votes per se. I think what they lack is five Justices willing to re-visit "R v W". If you bring up cases before them that address parts of R v W? I think they might well strike them down piece meal. Kennedy may be considered a swing justice but typically he has been the one to side on pro-life issues. It was O'Connor that wasn't. Kennedy's faults tend to be on issues like Kelo. Perhaps Alito and Roberts haven't been tested yet here but I suspect they are reliable.

The word has negative connotations. Just sounds ugly. Notice they don’t label themselves pro-abortion.
To: fire4effect
well, we are anti-abortion. I’m not ‘pro-life’ for murderers and rapists

“It suggests that the battle over abortion will endure for a long time to come.”
It will last until the end of time. Even if, pray God, abortion becomes illegal once again, pro-lifer will have plenty to do seeing to it that the law is enforced and that women in trouble are helped through their pregnancies and afterwards, if there is no father in the picture.

I don’t even care if they say anti-abortion. I am anti-abortion. So?

Repeat until effective.

I was especially struck by the large number of young people among the tens of thousands at the march. Mr. McCartney is accidentally revealing his stratospheric IQ here.
It's almost as though it never dawned on him that pro-lifers would tend to have MORE children than pro-abortionists.
I"ll bet he's scratching his head trying to decipher WHY, too.
Maybe he can get a grant from Department of Health and Human Services.
Cheers!

Well, after targetting our generation and killing of a third, why should he be surprised that the survivors rise up?

For the same reason they use “pro-choice” instead of “pro-abortion”. Controlling the words used in a discussion is an enormous advantage.

"I've seen the pain that abortion causes women," said Michelle Fabian, youth minister of St. Catherine of Siena Church in Lancaster County, Pa. She said her mother still "can't listen to a vacuum cleaner without shuddering" because it reminds her of the equipment used when she had an abortion before Fabian was born. Chilling.

"We are the pro-life generation," said signs carried by the crowd, about half its members appearing to be younger than 30. There were numerous large groups of teenagers, many bused in by Roman Catholic schools and youth groups. They and their adult leaders said the youths were taught from an early age to oppose abortion.
"People our age are going to be the ones to change, to be the future leaders," said Lauren Powers, 16, who came with a group from an all-girls Catholic school in Milwaukee" --from the article.
My daughter just returned this morning from the "March," and she went with a sizable group from the university she attends, and it is NOT a Catholic institution, however, the Newman Society
is present and on campus, and they sponsored the trip. Robert McCartney did a great service to the pro-life cause with this truthful article he wrote. Now, with additional prayer, maybe he'll "
come on home" as well.
P.S. It doesn't really matter if abortion is legal or not. If people stop "showing up" to kill their young, the doors will come right down. Keep marching, kids (of all ages!).

Here’s how it breaks down for me. I, and we, are anti-abortion, they’re pro-abortion. Right there, you cut through any haze, and draw the line — you’re on one side or the other, clear for all to see.
