The former six-term congressman stepped down Friday as host of his conservative talk radio program on a radio station in Phoenix.
"We will formally announce at a later time, but we're moving forward to challenge John McCain," Hayworth told the Associated Press. "I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it's time for him to come home."

But here you seem to be playing the other side a bit. I guess it's alright, it is true enough McCain has been fairly vocal lately in speaking against those who are trying to ruin our republic. But he has a primary to win and he won't if he runs on his record. It is more than counting votes in some organization's rating system - here we give weight to the various issues that matter to us and McCain has a relatively small number of negatives but they are HUGE negatives.
Whither Sarah Palin? I think it's safe to say most here would prefer she keep her promise to McCain to the least extent possible. And who knows? It might be an interesting primary season. And certainly it will be a challenge and an opportunity for her to get out and demonstrate whatever diplomatic skills she might have (something about which we really don't know, to be honest). I can't wait to see how it plays out.

A poor choice for a first post on this forum you made, hmmm?
SHAMNESTY: John McCain
By Michelle Malkin May 22, 2008 07:23 PM
First, my friends, a reminder of what was printed right here on January 23, 2008:
After spearheading a disastrous, security-undermining illegal alien amnesty bill last year with Teddy Kennedy, straight-talking GOP Sen. John McCain claims he has seen the light.
In TV appearances, he vows to put immigration enforcement first. On the campaign trail, he offers a perfunctory promise to strengthen border security and emphasizes the need to restore Americans trust in their governments ability to defend the homeland.
I got the message, he told voters in South Carolina. We will secure the borders first.
But how can McCain cure citizens distrust when his own credibility on the issue remains fatally damaged? He doesnt believe his own election-year spin. And he knows we know it. This is cynicism on steroids with a speedball chaser.
Not all of us have forgotten how the short-fused Arizona senator cursed good-faith opponents in his own party (F**k you! and Chickensh*t were the choice words he had for Texas GOP Sen. John Cornyn during a spat over enforcement provisions).
Not all of us have forgotten that he voted against barring felons from receiving amnesty benefits under his plan.
Not all of us have forgotten the underhanded, debate-sabotaging manner in which McCain/Kennedy/Graham/Harry Reid conspired to ram their package down voters throats.
His admission of the shamnesty failure is grudging and bitter. While he now tells conservative voters what they want to hear about the need to build the southern border fence, he takes a contemptuous tone toward physical barriers when talking to businessmen.
By the way, I think the fence is least effective, he told executives in Milwaukee, according to a recent Vanity Fair profile. But Ill build the goddamned fence if they want it. Straight talk? Try hate talk.
For all his supposed, newfound enlightenment about what most Americans wantprotection against invasion, commitment to the rule of law, meaningful employer sanctions, an end to sanctuary cities, enforcement-by-attrition plus deportation reform, and an end to special illegal alien benefits that invite more law-breakingThe Maverick remains a Geraldo Rivera Republican.
Like the ethnocentric cable TV host who cant string a sentence about immigration together without drowning in emotional demagoguery, McCain naturally resorts to open-borders platitudes when pressed for enforcement specifics. (snip)
I love Michelle... don't you?
"All poloticians should be limited to two terms. One in office and the other in prison..."
Couldn't have said it better myself.
I love that. And I am so going to steal that, until Michelle Malkin tracks me down and says I can't.
And, yes, Malkin is a treasure.
We know he shoots himself in the foot and then brags "well i have another one"...(a little 24/7 humor there)
He has one lobby that has kept him in office and for all of his so-called work one single county in Nevada is not drowning in unemployment and record rates of foreclosures. That county is pulling in $1000 + per ounce right now and they have no further use for him.
Stick a fork in him.

One thing I do know: JD Hayworth is a born-again Christian and he will need all our prayers to run against the McCain Machine! But, as we just saw this week, Prayers are answered by a gracious and loving God who does have a plan!~
Another sidebar: My son was in 1st grade with JDs daughter Hannah and I remember Marcus came home one day and said he had trouble with a couple of boys making fun of him out on the playground and Hannah Hayworth had stood up for him and really defended him against them. Now, as a parent I can say that what she did told me more of how JD and Mary were as parents (standing up for others in need)!
What a great story, and I might add that I am not the least bit surprised.
I’m getting a very strange warning when trying to click onto this thread. I managed to click “Reply” fast enough before it processed again, but I wanted to let you all know about it ASAP.
I’m using Google Chrome, and it’s only happening on THIS thread... It brings me to the all red “Warning this site may harm your computer” page, and the link where it says you can check some google info. it states the page for this thread as appearing at “angrywhitedude.com”.
I’ll try to get a screenshot in case I haven’t explained this well enough, or something. As I mentioned it’s ONLY on this particular thread. The ping I am following is a “Zot” ping, so that’s another reason I thought you should know ASAP that there was an irregularity.
Hope this helps!
This country and our Freedoms are what matter.... not some politician who says she is “Going Rogue” and then helps the very people who were part of trying to destroy her.
Loyalty to a loser is not a sign of integrity. It’s also not great strategy.
It’s not leadership, either.
Last I heard dingy was down about 10 pints. I don’t see how he can ever recoup unless we don’t have much of a candidate.
uhhhh... make that 10 points! Although pints is not bad either.
IATZ, but did you buy that ocean front property in Arizona too?
