The former six-term congressman stepped down Friday as host of his conservative talk radio program on a radio station in Phoenix.

"We will formally announce at a later time, but we're moving forward to challenge John McCain," Hayworth told the Associated Press. "I think we all respect John. I think his place in history is secure. But after close to a quarter-century in Washington, it's time for him to come home."

I wonder if Sarah would campaign for Hayworth in the Fall if Hayworth wins the primary. I would hope so.

I have no use for McCain, but I understand Sarah’s decision to endorse him at this point in time.

I don’t think JD can unseat McCain. He can keep McCain honest though, at least for a while.

Right. Hayworth will be doing us all a favor by at least getting McCain to run right. He can keep him in check all the way up to 31 August, 2010 AZ general primary with just 2 months before the November elections.

And besides, he has a good chance to hammer McCain over the next 7 months to unseat him.

McCain versus Hayworth could get very interesting before the August 31 Primary, but the latest Rasmussen poll had it moving in McCain’s direction (53-31%). I get the feeling that Hayworth might end up as the Joe Sestak of Republican Senate candidates. Both guys look great on paper yet it doesn’t translate enough to overcome all of the money and party support of their opponents.

The number of indies went up significantly during the amnesty fiasco. Until two years ago indies could not vote in AZ primaries and had to re-register by a certain date or wait to vote in the general election only... Napolitano changed that because she thought it would benefit the dems in the state...

Good for all of you. I totally get Palin, clearly a lot of people do not. I didn’t want her to campaign for McCain, but I knew she would.

Ironic that this post is illogical due to your handle?

Amazing the extent to which you will go to explain away her actions.

Palin owes McCain for introducing her to the national scene. It’s called loyalty. A higher form of integrity. Also, McCain was the first high profile politician to endorse Scott Brown, again loyalty comes to the surface.
_________________________________________________________

I absolutely agree with you! Were it someone else other than McCain, people would be saying “How can she stab him in the back like that? Surely she owes him some loyalty.”

I’m reading the book Game Change right now and I can say that the section on Palin really does not show her in a flattering light. It says that when McCain’s staffers wanted her to prep she would sulk, not answer them, seem to be in a stupor, etc. NOT a flattering portrayal and since this book has gone viral and has sold out of all the stores, I’m wondering how many people are reading this about her.

Yes, it portrays the weaknesses of other candidates too: 1. dumb0’s laziness and how he wasn’t sure he wanted to put out the effort to run.
2. McCain’s unwillingness to make tough deicisions and how he put friends like Graham and Lieberman over common sense sometimes...
3. Biden’s verbal diarrhea and the deals he cut with dumb0 to watch his mouth and to avoid being dumped....
BUT many people already realized all these things. The parts on Sarah though, seemed to be in the news earlier but was doubted because it came from insiders on McCain’s campaign. Some of these stories came from people that were FRIENDS of Palin. I think this is going to hurt badly.

“If Palin is practicing integrity then it must mean that her values and McCain’s values are closely aligned. Which means that she is no conservative.”

__________________________________________________________

How is practicing integrity mean she is no conservative? I consider myself very conservative and integrity is an important part of my life. I am not being a smart aleck, but I’m trying to understand how being someone that has a strong sense of integrity and what it means is suddenly not a conservative.

All David had was a sling shot and and five smooth stones. He dispatched the enemy. All Hayworth really needs is a right relationship with God to be a winner.

Palin needs to show loyalty to the conservatives who are really responsible for her rise in the political arena. She should stay out of the primary.

“Amazing the extent to which you will go to explain away her actions.”

LOL, I don’t have to try hard, she does ok on her own. This one certainly isn’t hard...it’s common sense as McCain gave her a national political stage.

I’m not crazy about it but it is perfectly reasonable and understandable.

I hope Hayworth kicks McCains’s rino arse. They guy went out of his way to not just vote against conservatives on many key issue but to literall sabotage conservatives on hey issues.

I’ll likely throw some money his way.

The American Conservative Union awarded McCain a lifetime rating of 81 percent through 2008.

And we know he had a good 2009.

Remember the 80% rule.

3. But the more relevant question is “How many people does John Thune excite outside South Dakota?” Sarah Palin excites millions.
