Bill Maher slams Obama and draws gasps from crowd (Obama Worse Then Cheney)
Irish Central ^ | January 21, 2010 | Niall O'Dowd

Posted on 01/23/2010 3:06:34 AM PST by tlb

If you want to see how bad things may be for President Obama, consider Bill Maher's comments on the President at the Westbury Music Fair in Long Island last night.

I was present, and there were gasps and hisses when Maher made several cutting comments about Obama to the packed crowd who, no doubt, would have preferred to have Republicans roasted rather than their favorite President.

Maher seemed a little taken aback by the audience reaction, but pointed out that criticism of Obama was warranted in the current climate. He soon won the crowd over.

Maher was not about to let the audience have their comfort zone. He sneered at Obama's giveback to the banks, doing a wicked caricature of Obama handing the billions out to A.I.G. and Goldman Sachs. He was also deeply critical --and hilariously so -- of Obama's failure to press home his agenda like Dick Cheney and George Bush were able to do despite what the electorate thought.

When Bill Maher, the most liberal stand-up comedian in America, is attacking Obama, then the President should be concerned., When he is comparing him unfavorably to Dick Cheney, then he had better be REALLY concerned.

Like any good stand-up man, Maher was edgy and ahead of the crowd. But he clearly has a sense of the Zeitgeist like no other performer right now. What he is articulating is the shattering disappointment on the left that Obama has not delivered for them, and that Wall Street and the banks have made out like bandits while the middle class continues to suffer and health care heads south.

In a strange way, Maher and the Tea Party have much in common. On Saturday night at the same venue, I will be seeing Bill O'Reilly and Glenn Beck. Strange to think they and Maher have much in common in believing that Obama has not measured up to the job so far.

Who would have thunk it?

Could anyone, no matter how delusional, possibly think that this scrawny, inadequate man has measured up to the job?

You know Obama is in trouble when the Left starts savaging him.

Well, Bill, let’s test how independent and “libertarian” you are. Keep your “hard edged” humor against Obama going and lets see if you can take the heat as well as the conservative political comedians like Rush Limbaugh and Ann Coulter.

The signal has been given to lefties. It is safe to trash Obama. You will not be called a racist.

Are you talking about Maher or Obama?

But seriously, the loony Left is going ape for exactly the opposite reason that the Right is: they feel Obama is centrist, in the same sense that they believe Clinton or Kennedy was centrist. Obama has a simple decision- veer even further left to mollify the 20% of the country that is "progressive" (meaning adhering to an ideology that ignominiously failed on these shores 400 years ago duringn the Pilgrim's first winter), or apologize and grudgingly move to become the centrist he promised to be. What to do, what to do.

Don't interfere when your enemy is committing suicide (but don't let down your guard, either)

A blind squirrel finds a nut, BFD.

Maher is still an ass and had his placenta lived when he was born, IT would have had more value to society than the abysmal Maher.

Thanksgiving 2008 I was the outcast at the family gathering when I was the only one in the room not declaring to have voted for Obama. They mocked McCain, and I agreed.

'Then why don't you like Obama?' my college-age nephew asked in front of a few of his friends.

I said 'Because the nation basically elected a minor Chicago city alderman with no experience as President of the USA. All he'll end up doing is talking and giving speeches and slowly but surely contradicting himself. The people around him will prove to be a cast of criminals, one after another. Pretty soon, he'll be seen as a grandiose BS artist when his mystique wears off and you guys will try to forget you ever got caught up in this inane Obama hysteria.'

This last Thanksgiving, nobody said a word about politics.

I saw some lefty diatribe the other day (wish I could remember where, it was so entertaining) —— it was a letter to the editor online, and new “progressive” position is that Obama is a rabid evil warmonger for sending more troops and not doing a total cut-and-run in the first few months.......

It is rather entertaining when the left goes into meltdown because Obama is not “pure” enough for their inanities.

Strange alternate reality when Obama is not supposed to be considered a “man of the left”

Yes, that is exactly what I was thinking. They are upset for very different reasons. Our battle is not just against this President or his administration it is with a philosophy that has a hold on the culture of America. 2010 and 2012 are just major battles on the road to restoring to Americans their freedoms. These folks are not the enemy of my enemy and we would be wise to keep that in mind.

When one is a lying deceiving half-breed, community organizing, communist, leftist, statist from Kenya, what is it amongst those qualities that gives one an idea that hope and change have any hope of change.

You are correct.
And this means 0bama and the Social-Democrats are in a lose/lose situation.
If they do not right their course, and in a very demonstrative way, then the idependents will rise up against them all across the nation, and Massachussetts will be replayed all across the country in November, from New York to California.

But this may be a case of the cure being worse than the disease.
If Democrats try to moderate to avoid the independent’ backlash, then they will risk truly alienating their base, who will not show up to vote out of a combination of disgust, despair, and disappointment.
And the independs will almost certainly break decidedly against them, anyways.

But in the most liberal of districts, a decent showing of Democrat voters would be enough to stem the idependent tide. But not if they stay home.

The Democrats tacking to the center, at this point, would only deepen their losses, and penetrate into the darkest blue corners of the country.

We need to not only exploit 0bama’s weaknesses on the right, but also his weaknesses on his left.
To inflict maximum damage on the Democrats, we must separate them from both independents and their own base.

This is a "Dog Bites Man" story--or "Ass Bites Boob" story.

Maher is attacking Obama for not being enough of a socialist.

I used to love seeing Maher get all mad, and then he'd quote his favorite little tidbits from the paper that his staff looked up, or his little nuggests about "Deists" like he was some little brat showing up the adults. Then it just got boring.
