If Republicans will study the returns from Massachusetts, then review the returns from Virginia and New Jersey, light will fall upon the path to victory over Barack Obama in 2012.
Obama defeated John McCain by winning the black vote 24 to 1, the Hispanic vote 2 to 1 and taking a larger share of the white vote, 44 percent, than did John Kerry or Al Gore. As the white vote was three-fourths of the national turnout, Obama coasted to victory.
Now consider Massachusetts. In the 2008 election, no less than 79 percent of the voters were white, and Obama carried them by 20 points, winning the state 62 to 36.
How did Scott Brown turn that 26-point deficit into a 6-point victory? By winning the white vote as massively as did Obama. While there are no exit polls to prove it, we do have exit polls from Virginia and New Jersey, which tend to corroborate it.
It's not too late to rescue the nation! Read how in "Save America Now! The New Revolution to Save Freedom and Liberty"
Bob McDonnell won the Virginia governor's race by 17, while McCain lost Virginia by 6. As McDonnell did equally poorly with African-Americans, losing the black vote 90 to 9, while McCain's lost it 92 to 8, what explains his Virginia landslide?
The white vote. McDonnell won Virginia's white vote 68 to 32, though his opponent was a downstate Democrat more conservative than the Northern Virginia candidates he beat in the primary.
In New Jersey, same story. McCain won 8 percent of the black vote. Gov. Chris Christie won 8 percent of the black vote. How did Christie turn a McCain loss of New Jersey by 16 points into a 5-point victory?

I think white guilt was the swing vote, and many white Obama voters are getting over their guilt after a year of Obama policies.

Enforce immigration laws and that won't happen. "Evolving demographics" includes 500,000 - 1,000,000 illegals per year, most all Hispanic.
..And everyone else lost their jobs and houses and left. I had to drive through it last Summer. Used to be a nice working class city, and now it's trying hard to be Detroit.
For the record. I hope that I’m wrong. But trust me...there’s a reason that she went to Haiti recently and it’s not because she cares one lick about the people of Haiti.

He didn’t LOSE white America. He knew where they’ve been all along.
He THREW sensible, ADULT America — white, black, yellow and brown America — under the bus before the election.
No, he has lost his mind, that is, if he ever has one.
Interesting rant. Since minorities seem to be incapable of seeing the horrible things being done to America and the economy — and are suffering more than whites from the crazy policies in Washington — what does this say about them? Are they so attached to Obama because of his race they cannot even see their own best interests?
The question, posed in other verbiage, would be much more receptive to discussion if it wasn’t Pat asking it. I agree with you, Pat seems to always know how and when to step in a big pile of Doo-Doo!
Heyzoos Christie, Pat, whiskey tango foxtrot are you thinking?
I don’t know why WND even posted this question. I am “white” and I have never supported him because he is a radical demagogue, not because he is
black”.
This article fails to analyze, in depth, the black vote for Obama VS Scott.
Buchanan says the black voting for Obama was 24-1 (96%). It appears, from my on-line search of availabe data, that about 20-24% of black voters voted for Brown (only 77% of black voters voted for Coakley). This means that 5 to 6 times as many black voters voted for Brown than voted for Obama. This is a very significant increase, especially if you see the Scott Brown vote as a vote against Obama or his agenda.
On his inauguration day, Obama was asked about how it felt to be the first black President. He said something like, "that lasted for about half an hour and then he had to deal with the problems that any other President had to deal with."
He was accurate with that statement. And, it appears from the Brown election results that an argument could be made that some black voters may have voted for him because he was black, but now that he is President it is apparent that a significant number of black voters are judging him based on his performance, and possibly ideology, in dealing with the "problems that any other President had to deal with", i.e. the issues that Scott Brown presented to the black voter in Massachusetts.
That fact, baffles me. I simply do not grok it."
Presuming you are white, you have two choices: Take into account your own identity, or remain buffaloed.
I grew up in a majority black neighborhood.
Most of my friends when I was young were black.
I hope that helps to explain my being baffled.
It may be possible to look at individual precincts in e.,g. randolph (city is about 30% black), parts of cambridge, worcester, etc, but I haven't seen those.
The exact totals are:
2008: 131,461,000
2004: 122,293,000
2000: 105,417, 000
So, 2008 was neither the "highest turnout (percentage-wise) in history, as some Obama-bots claimed in the early flush of victory, nor a low turnout, as some said who didn't see the very final numbers. It was up a bit from 2004, but not extraordinary by the standards of mid-century, especially 1960.
Should read Has obama lost the ignorant doofus whites who didnt take the time to look at who this guy is?
