NEW YORK (AFP) For sale: second-hand Airbus. Condition: total wreck with possible traces of goose feathers.
The US Airways plane that Captain Chesley Sullenberger landed safely in the Hudson River a year ago after smashing into a flock of geese is on the auction block.
Insurers AIG are hosting online bidding until March 27 for the Airbus A320, which is stored in a shed in New Jersey.
Pictures on the website of the AIG subsidiary handling the sale show the intact fuselage, spooky rows of empty blue seats and the hastily abandoned cockpit.
Engines are not provided and a future owner might want to be handy with the toolbox.

I had heard it also has no wings so ..

Put the fuselage up on blocks and it’s as good as any redneck mansion.
That plane should be exhibited at the Smithsonian.
Already done: http://www.airplanehome.com/
And since AIG owns it, and owes the US taxpayers billions..they should donate it to the Smithsonian Aerospace Museum as a gesture of thanks..BTW, wonder if Sulley got a bonus?..His skill saved AIG about $200 million, by my estimate..
Is there a min reserve?..............
I recall seeing a show a few years ago on Discovery or NatGeo..in the Pacific Northwest they’re using old airframes for artificail reefs, and very successfully..
Sullenberger’s autobiography was a great hit as Christmas gifts last month, everyone I gave it to has read it and passed it on to a friend already.
I’m thinking a floating restaurant.
What good is the plane without Captain Awesome?
No, it will soon be destroyed in a tornado.
Some of the photos show carry on luggage still in the overhead storage area. Don’t the passengers get that back or is that now part of the salvaged aircraft?

Whatever he may have done with Obama his book is full of conservative insight.

I have heard the same thing. Confusing.....
