In the news today, GW Bush endorsed Hutchison. This follows Chaney and other inside-the-beltway types endorsing Hutchison against Perry. IMHO, this is absolutely NOT the type of endorsements that Hutchison needs. Right now, in Texas, the sentiment is extremely anti-Washington, and the mood is "kick the ******ds out". All this is doing is further typing Kay Bailey to the Washington mess.
I wonder if the endorsements are truly endorsements for her or if they're reading the tea leaves and deciding that an endorsement for her actually supports Perry more.
No great love for Perry but Hutchison has always annoyed me. No great shakes as a senator.
Nope. The blogs got it wrong. It was Bush’s dad who endorsed Hutchison: http://www.al.com/newsflash/index.ssf?/base/politics-15/1264113224135480.xml&storylist=politics
Hutchison is way, way, way better than Perry.
Neither truly thrills me but Perry, at least, understands his audience. They are fed up with Washington mandates and many are thisclose to demanding secession. Hutchison represents the country club Bush-Cheney wing of Washington insiders. While influential, I don't think their message resonates with the typical conservative Texan.
After he out-conservatives Hutchison, I expect Perry to veer to the center in the general election while speaking enough red meat to keep the base on his side. His margin of victory may be less this time but, barring any major missteps, I think he's going to hold his seat.
Hutchison this week added endorsements from James Baker, who served as secretary of state under George HW Bush. Earlier, Bush 43 Vice President Dick Cheney came to Texas to publicly endorse Hutchison. And the Republican senator has plenty of support from one-time aides to George W. Bush - informal advisers Karl Rove and Karen Hughes as well as former education secretary Margaret Spellings.
Now, comes Poppy Bush.
And Senators are no great shakes at governing.
As is becoming more and more evident in Washington...
I may be weird, but endorsements don’t mean a lot to me. I like GHWB and Cheney, but I’m NOT voting for KBH unless she wins the primary and is my only choice against a Rat. I’m voting for Perry unless Medina is close enough to KBH to get into a runoff with Perry. If that’s the case, I’m going with Medina. If Medina’s a distant third, I’m going with Perry.
In what way? Her declaration that a baby is an “it” that can be killed by choice up to 5 to 6 months? Or her demand that President George Bush allow embryo destruction for experiments?
Here’s the video where Kay herself tells us that it’s a woman’s choice to kill her child until she’s 5 or 6 months pregnant. (very disturbing to watch) http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G9KgSKA84JY
And here’s the letter from June, 2004, demanding increased embryonic stem cell research that Kay signed

Screw the RINO Hutchison, I’m voting for Medina. She’s the only one who acts like she wants to solve the border problems.
Kay Bailout Hutchison is a pork queen who pushes federal programs such as the NEA and flip-flops on border security.
The Bushes sure don’t stay out of it when it involves Republican politics. But they sure as hell stay out of it and tell us to offer up our support on ‘behalf of the country’ to traitors like 0bama and the Demon party. The Bushes are not worthy of respect when it comes to politics. They cannot fight the enemy within.
Me either. And your voting logic pretty well reflects my own, for the most part.
I watched the last part of the KERA debate and I think I heard Medina say she was for legalizing drugs. I'll have to do a little more research on that stance, especially since we are inundated with drug crime from south of the border, It disturbed me, even though the rest of her debate performance (that I saw) was pretty good.
Medina is from the libertarian school of thought, so that wouldn't surprise me. I smoked grass around thirty five years ago and used to drink pretty heavily, but haven't done either in many years, although I will drink one or two beers maybe every six months.
My brother is the straightest guy I know (he has never had a beer, cigarette or any illegal drug in his entire life) and he thinks drugs should be legalized, so I know it's not just potheads. I'm torn on the issue. I've been on a lot of drug overdoses (firefighter), but there are arguments both ways.
With establishment Republicans endorsing Hutchinson I have no doubt at all any longer in my support of Gov. Perry!
Perry tried to make it mandatory for young girls to take Gardisil.
Perry is big on the trans-Texas corridor, big on toll roads.
He’s a slimy politician. People he went to college with don’t like him. (I’m an Aggie also. He’s my brother’s age, and my brother is an Aggie.)
Who will replace KBH if she’s elected? Someone who is appointed by Perry?
Yeah, but did you see his Cosmo spread?
