Dems Double Down

Health Care: Will the administration seize the moment of Scott Brown's victory to work out real solutions, or will it follow Nancy Pelosi and Harry Reid over the cliff? Or is it just about government control?

Before Sen.-elect Brown became the Scott heard 'round the world, House Speaker Pelosi was asked what his victory in the bluest of blue states would mean. "Certainly the dynamic will change depending on what happens in Massachusetts," she replied in a bit of an understatement.

The dynamic has changed, yet the Democrats, as the country song goes, apparently don't know when to hold them and when to fold them.

"I heard the candidate in Massachusetts, the Republican candidate, say 'Let's go back to the drawing board,'" Pelosi told reporters in California on Monday. "There is no back to the drawing board. . .. We will have health care one way or another."

Pelosi is still not listening....America does not want this bill in any form. Shred the dang thing and start from scratch.

If Pelosi thinks this bill is so important...why on earth doesn't she and all the other Federal Employees use it...instead of the sweet insurance they have now?

Pelosi is insanely evil and I live for the day when she is either no longer “speaker” or is no longer in Congress, period.

The House will pass the senate bill as is to avoid another Senate vote. When they passed their version of the bill Pelosi decided who could get a pass and still get it done.Same thing will happen this time.Republicans play patty-cake;dems play steel cage death matches.

We’ll see.

McConnell has done a good job of completely holding all Repub Senators in line AGAINST the Obamacare nightmare.

That’s what has driving the Marxists nuts because they have repeatedly tried and have wanted to get 1 or 2 Repubs on their side so as to say this is a “bipartisan” effort....but even the ultra liberal Snowe and Collins have stayed away from this toxic “legislation.”

This is the line in the sand that brought Scott Brown his election miracle - (the major factor).

Let the Demonrats go on and pass this horror.

Then they may as well all retire and take their golden parachute federal pension plans with them....

The House will pass the senate bill as is to avoid another Senate vote.

I keep hearing that. Dick Morris thinks so. But read this from yesterday's "The Hill" and you may start to think otherwise. I think the next few days will tell the tale. If Pelosi has the votes in her pocket then there is nothing to stop her from calling for a vote. The clock is ticking on the State of the Union address next week. If you she doesn't do it by then we will know that Bart Stupak was right and she doesn't have the votes. Where's my popcorn?

Stupak: Senate bill wouldn't get 100 votes in the House

By Michael O'Brien - 01/20/10 01:12 PM ET

The Senate's health bill might not even get 100 votes in the House, Rep. Bart Stupak (D-Mich.) said Wednesday.

Stupak, a centrist Democrat who voted for the first House health bill, said that there's virtually no chance that House Democrats would pass the Senate's healthcare package, and called for Democratic leaders to pursue a less sweeping version of healthcare reform.

"The Senate bill, and I know the leadership floated the idea over the weekend...wouldn't even get 100 votes," Stupak said during an appearance on the Fox Business Network. "There's quite a bit of differences between the House and Senate bill, and there's no appetite in the House for the Senate bill."

“Pelosi is still not listening”

San Francisco did not send Pelosi to DC to “listen” to Americans. This woman does not represent Americans, she represents San Francisco. She was sent there to implement the “San Francisco Plan” on America. She is saying & doing exactly what her constituents want her to do: Ignore Americans while creating the socialist utopia San Franciscans desperately want for America.

If Congressional Rats want to turn their political fortunes around, they had better start by electing themselves a NEW Speaker, because NP is totally secure in her House seat - she's not going home anytime soon, & she is a fanatical ideologue who would rather lose every Rat seat in Congress than change her socialist plan for America.

That's fine with me if Rats get a serious drubbing in November, but until then, Pelosi wants to continue driving the American bus over the cliff. This crap needs to stop NOW!

Question: Can a majority of Congress REMOVE Pelosi as Speaker via a vote? If so, how soon can that vote take place?

I say shred this thing and move on to something important. For instance, border control, terrorism, Illegals, real job creation etc. (One thing I’d like to see is a stiff tax on the off-shore industries to get them back onto the US mainland.)

I suppose they could. In the past, a speaker who loses support of his party generally resigns the post (like Gingrich did) and a new election for speaker is held. I don't see Queen Nancy ever resigning.

We already tax American companies on their worldwide income. And we have the second highest corporate tax in the world.

Why not cut the corporate tax to 10%. Unless you like giving the government more money?

Ding ding ding!

We have a winner, folks.

No further calls are necessary.

"take their golden parachute federal pension plans"

Let's zero all those out to help balance the budget, first thing.

Of course, speaker is just whichever member of the house wins a majority vote among the members. Each party tries to unite on one candidate, then the party that outnumbers the other one votes their person in - but that is just how the parties strategically manipulate the process. The rules are just, the member with the most votes for the job is the speaker.

Thanks for the comeback. I think I inadvertently used the wrong term. I should have said tariff rather than tax.

How much industry came back after Bush enacted steel tariffs?

How high would tariffs have to go, for you to get your wish?

And how else are you going to get jobs back in this country?

Obviously, when I think of the best way to bring jobs back to America, making steel more expensive is at the top of my list.

So just how high do tariffs have to be to bring back the manufacturing you want?

Will they be across the board tariffs or targeted?

Umm . . . we've already taxed them to the point where they left the mainland. Raising their taxes will accomplish absolutely nothing.
