French President Nicolas Sarkozy promised Lebanese President Michel Suleiman that he would help "rein in Israel," according to a report Wednesday in the London-based Arabic-language daily Asharq Al-Awsat.

According to the report, which quotes what it calls a credible French source, Sarkozy "promised to deal with the matter" during a meeting in which Suleiman expressed concern about a possible Israeli attack and what he called Israel's violation of UN Resolution 1701, which ended the Second Lebanon War in 2006.

Meanwhile, U.S. Middle East envoy George Mitchell on Wednesday said Lebanon is key to regional peace.

Zarkozy should have learned about peace already. The largest single source of GLOBAL instigation and violence comes directly from the Koran. Look what they did to his burbs.

Outlaw the hate group/cult and 95% of the problems are solved!

That’s ridiculous. What right does he have - and what does France have to do with Israel? France & Sarkozy are way out there - It’s nothing like the France who was our ally in war and stood for liberty & democracy. This is a new France that has no right to speak about this. “Rein in,” indeed! !!!

The French couldn’t “rein-in” a poodle, let alone Bibi Netanyahu. Give them the leash, and they’ll know where to go.

Maybe it would be better to rein in Islamic terrorists before the Israelis have to do it themselves?

*** FRENCH POLITICS AND CULTURE PING LIST *** FREEPMAIL ME IF YOU WANT TO JOIN ***

I am witholding judgement because of the nature of the source... Arab newspapers and Haaretz.

Info on Haaretz from Wiki:

Haaretz describes itself as broadly liberal on domestic issues and international affairsIt is described as liberal left-wingand hard left J.J. Goldberg describes it as “Israel’s most vehemently anti-settlement daily paper.
Rosner described the opinions as coming “from the right (not many), the center-right (still not many), the center (quite a few), the center-left (many), the far-left (let’s say that Haaretz has more than its fair share coming from this political camp).

In 2001, the pro-Israel media-monitoring and advocacy group CAMERA claimed that Haaretz fueled anti-Israel bias.

Israeli author Irit Linur canceled her subscription, accusing Haaretz’ of an anti-Zionist theme that turns too often to “foolish” and “wicked” journalism.

Roni Daniel, the military and security correspondent for Israeli Channel 2 also canceled his subscription, citing the use of a television review section to criticize his correspondence.

The Nation describes Haaretz as “Israel’s liberal beacon,” citing its editorials voicing opposition to the occupation, the security barrier, discriminatory treatment of Arab citizens, and the mindset that led to the Second Lebanon War.[6] Aijaz Ahmad, writing in Frontline, described Haaretz as “the most prestigious Israeli newspaper”.

...Sarkozy "promised to deal with the matter"

only a bunch of 'palestinian' loving marxists at Haaretz could translate that favourably for the death-cult arabs.

Well, France is not immune from the general economic downturn, Sarko imho is playing to the Islamic audience as a means of advancing business interests.

Ugly, but they also want a Med Free Trade Bloc as well, if that is the goal they have to suck up to the islmaic crazies.
