A homeowner shot at an intruder Tuesday night in Cantonment, and deputies are still searching for the suspect.

About 6:30, the Escambia County Sheriff’s Department responded to the home in the 1800 block of Wareham Way. That’s where a homeowner says he shot at a man trying to get into his house. Deputies don’t believe the homeowner’s shotgun blast hit the intruder, but they were not completely certain.

The intruder was not found.

Warem Way is a small cul-de-sac located off Louis Street, just south of International Paper

Wonder what caliber it was.

On the other hand, most people won’t stick around to see where the next shot is going if you miss. :D

No you don't. You're way too smart to wonder what caliber shotgun it was. Martha Coakley would wonder such a thing, right after calling Curt Schilling a "Yankee fan."

Unless it was a .410, it did not have a caliber, it had a gauge. Statistically 12 is most likely, 20 somewhat likely, 16 not very likely, and 28 even less likely. .410 caliber is probably about as likely as 20 guage, maybe a bit less.

Hard to miss entirely with a shotgun. Something as large and slow as a person anyway, unless the range is pretty long and/or large size shot is used, since that means less of them and more holes in the "pattern".

wrong again, unload birdshot and load 12 guage slugs ....bad medicine indeed, they will get you through the door, across the street, wherever

Statistically it may have been a 12, but let’s hope it was a 10.

Or a punt gun.

When a rape, murder, burglary is prevented, when citizens prevent looting after a hurricane as in Texas after Rita, when local law enforcement is assisted by armed citizens, this hardly ever makes any news.
