Former Gov. Sarah Palin will announce today that she's hitting the campaign trail for Republicans -- including her former running mate John McCain.
Palin, who did not campaign in last year's governor's races or in yesterday's Senate race in Massachusetts, has committed to contests in three states, including two Republican primaries, an aide said.
She'll campaign in Texas for Gov. Rick Perry, who faces a primary challenge from Sen. Kay Bailey Hutchison; she'll appear in Arizona for Senator John McCain, who faces a challenge from the right; and she'll appear in Minnesota for Rep. Michelle Bachmann, a conservative firebrand who has emerged as a national figure.
In a statement set to appear on her Facebook page, Palin promises to campaign "FOR the people and AGAINST politics as usual."
She cites the Massachusetts contest as "a clear indication of things to come and a demonstration of the momentum we all share in the fight for the values and policies that will get our country back to work," promising to campaign for "the commonsense conservative principles of liberty and fiscal responsibility."
Palin's return to electoral politics -- and to primary politics in particularly -- suggests that she isn't content merely to be a media figure with her new Fox News contract, but intends to be active in shaping the Republican Party in her own image. Her full statement is after the jump.
Statement from Sarah Palin
Title: Ride the Tide with Commonsense Candidates!
I want to again thank the good people of Massachusetts for propelling a commonsense, independent agenda forward! May the working man and woman feel empowered now more than ever to get involved in their government, and let's put this great country on the right track. The past year continues to offer the promise of commonsense government in so many areas. There are steps we can all take to get there, one of which is to support candidates who promise to fight FOR the people and AGAINST politics as usual. I'm excited to get out and help elect candidates who will bring those principles to our nation's towns, state houses, and directly to Washington D.C. We are already making plans to support the candidates our nation needs to make a difference and speak for everyday Americans. I look forward to helping Governors like Rick Perry in Texas, Representatives like Michele Bachmann in Minnesota, and heroes and statesmen like Senator John McCain. We will support these candidates and others so that they can continue to fight for our American values. The special election yesterday in Massachusetts was truly amazing. It is a clear indication of things to come and a demonstration of the momentum we all share in the fight for the values and policies that will get our country back to work. The commonsense conservative principles of liberty and fiscal responsibility are on the rise, and that's why I'm going out and campaigning as hard as I can to make a difference. I can't wait to join all of you in supporting these great candidates and many more over the coming months. In the meantime, visit the websites of Rick Perry, Michele Bachmann, and John McCain. And join us as we embark on America's journey to November!
99.9% chance you are right. But I can hope for the 0.1% chance, can’t I?
I half expected this to take place. This really ought to bring up her political capital in the minds of those who think she is out of her league. Personally speaking, now that she has established her political freedom, she should also realize she does NOT owe this self serving political ego maniac squat. He used her because of what she brought to the table and then dumped her like a one night stand.
Sarah, you should know better, but, oh well, some people have to learn the hard way. Lord McCain is the philandering politician that beds down with the liberals except when it is an election year. And even then he is far more generous with the party that intends to destroy US than he does those that he counts on to keep him in his royal digs.
“By my count she has now endorsed two RINOs....John McCain and Michael Steele.
Up the count to five.
Her PAC gave money to Hatch, Murkowski, and... Lindsey Grahamnesty.
Epic fail. “
Pretend you are J.D. Hayworth. Here is what you are up against.....
1) A vicious, back stabbing RINO traitor, who is already running attack push polls on Hayworth.
2) McCain has 5 million bucks, and can get more.
3) McCain is owned by the amnesty-loving Chamber of Commerce RINO’s at the GOP/RNC higher echelon.
4) The RINO/left Arizona Republic newspaper loves McCain, and dislikes Hayworth.
Hayworth....
Hayworth has a great, well paying job right near his home in Scottsdale.
If Palin goes full bore for McCain, it is unlikely Hayworth will toss his pleasant life away, when he would not only have to fight McCain, and the RINO RNC, he will have to go against a very popular woman in Sarah Palin. I say Hayworth will not run. Thank you Sarah, for NOTHING !
McCain USED Sarah, because he knew his leftism would not fly without her(or someone like her) on the ballot. His people then abused her.
Sarah owes this pig NOTHING!
If she is as she claims, a conservative, backing McCain makes her a liar!
Sarah has no ego.
Can’t stand McCain but he asked her to be his VP...now he is asking for her help...I don’t know how she says no to this.

That was quite a thread. :)
This is not a high school student council election. And everybody has some amount of ego. I am not advocating Sarah campaign for a lord McCain opponent. What I do oppose is her using her political clout to fill in the deep crevasses of the political mainframe that is the self serving two timing lord McCain.

Go Sarah Palin... you're the one who can step into this in the future and make a big change... :-)
Sarah Palin, Miss Wasilla, 1984
“John McCain owes any success to the last election to Sarah. John would have had only 30% of the vote without her. He would not even be able to run to regain his seat if she had not been there. Sarah pull his butt out of the fire.
Also John did not defend Sarah after the election when he was on television. McCain has no honor and does not deserve any support. McCain swings with the tide and has no backbone.”
Exactly!
If I do turn Democrat, what's in it for me?
Perhaps Saint Sarah is also politics as usual?
Good thing she got that pundit job as FNC.
I’ll always like her and I think it’s great she’ll be on FNC occasionally, but she’s lost my political support (and I suspect quite a few others)if she campaigns for McCain.
Stay out of the primary fight, you will be damaged by it even if your intentions are good.
McCain hasn’t been bashing Palin. Anyone surprised by this announcement hasn’t read Sarah’s book.
She appears to be acting as a RNC Steele type. I can see why she would not dis Mccain in public but campaigning for him in a primary means one of two possiblities:
1) She agrees with him, or more likely
2) principles don’t matter to her, it’s all about the Republican party team. You never really see her articulate principles beyond, ‘Obama’s policies are ba and abortions are bad, and drilling is good’.
“Would you praise her loyalty if she were a young doctor who referred her patient to an incompetent specialist because that specialist had written her a recommendation to get into medical school?”
Man, what an apt comparison!!
Yes indeed. Most especially since lord McCain will be right back on cap -n- trade and amnesty track as soon as he deceives the good people of AZ that he is a conservative. All he has done is pass off his leadership on these agendas to that flake from South Carolina. AND politically speaking I am sick of these two timing so called republicans.
“Cant stand McCain but he asked her to be his VP...now he is asking for her help...I dont know how she says no to this.”
“No” is an easy word to say. McCain is asking for her help so he can further damage the country.
It will be interesting, and instructive, seeing the philosophical contortions Sarah will have to construct in order to support the re-election of McCain.
