The conservatives are portraying this as a fait accompli, so if Coakley pulls it out, the Dems are going to go into orbit.
If he pulls this out - knocking on wood - you have to put him on the list of possible VP choices, or better in a future election. 2012 might be too soon, but 2016 isn’t.

I am holding my nose and watching Hardball. They are basically conceding the election to Brown and painting Coakley as just running a bad campaign. Boston Globe reporter said she would rather eat glass than campaign. He said Brown, by contrast, ran a very effective ad yesterday showing him walking through Southie shaking hands. Looks good for the good guys judging by the astonishment of Chris the Tingle and crowd
I hope Brown wins, but if he does, I expect the Dems to dispute the results and go dumpster diving for invalid votes to put Coakley over the top.
