Research 2000 Poll: Coakley And Brown Tied 48%-48% (Brown Was Behind 8)
Talking Points Memo ^ | January 18, 2010 | Eric Kleefeld

Posted on 01/18/2010 10:03:09 AM PST by icwhatudo

The new Daily Kos/Research 2000 poll of the Massachusetts special Senate election has the race as a tie between Democrat Martha Coakley and Republican Scott Brown -- the best independent poll result that Coakley has had in the last few days.

A Research 2000 poll from last week, which was commissioned by the local liberal blog Blue Mass Group, had Coakley with a stronger lead of 49%-41%.

Daily Kos's Laura Clawson writes: "As we keep saying, this one comes down to GOTV."

I don’t believe so. Why would the Brown campaign use the correct http in some ads but the incorrect https in others? The “infected” ads are all hosted on Yahoo. The ones not hosted on Yahoo work properly. It smells to high heaven, IMHO.

I just called Barney Frank’s Newton, MA office to remind him that his seat is vulnerable and WHO do you think answered the phone?

After speaking with Queen Bawnee on your telephone don't forget to take these recommended precautions to avoid infection and/or contamination:

  1. Spray the instrument with full strength Lysol, inside and outside.

  2. Using blacksmith tongs and welders gloves place it in a preheated 450º oven for 4 hours.

  3. Leave the instrument in the oven and allow it to cool to room temperature.

  4. When the oven is cool place the tongs and gloves inside with the telephone.

  5. Call the local Hazardous Waste Disposal team and have them haul the oven and it's contents to the nearest Hazmat disposal site.

  6. Get a new telephone and never dial that number again.

I don’t know. Why the heck didn’t I listen to the whole segment? I’ll see if I can find it.

Independent voters comprise over half the electorate now. My guess is it could surge higher, but in 24 hours we should have some idea.

-Of course his seat is vulnerable. He wouldn’t have it any other way.

I don't want to hear ANYTHING about Barney's frank!

May be a Kos commissioned poll, but Blue Mass does not appear to be cooking the books in terms (for example) of manipulating their sampling from their initial methods to skew their latest results: that's an eight point drop for Coakley in this poll in the past week, which is roughly contrunet with the meta-trend.

Rasmussen was just on Fox. He has Brown at 64%.

Don't toy with us, what exactly did Rasmussen say?

Sorry, that was unclear, the pollster is Research 2000, Blue Mass commissioned last weeks R2 poll, Kos commissioned this one.

This is typical of lefty polls that internally have the Republican winning. They keep the Dem in the lead until just before the election, then election eve the polls tighten and the Republican takes the lead. That way they can say they were doing accurate polling after the election, even though for 99% of it they had a bias towards the Dem.

Barney Frank himself answered the phone? That’s a first for a politician.

You can make calls for candidates out of your state? Can I just pick who I like nationwide and help them?

Anyone can volunteer to make calls. Go to www.brownforussenate.com and click on the "Call from home" link. You don't have control over choosing who you can call.

Impressive that he is above 50 percent now in all but this poll.

That’s important.
