Might be time to invest in a churn. :-)

You are correct IMHO. I ask my parents (each 87 YO) if people were dropping dead from heart attacks and cancer before World War II. They said no. This is about the time we went from wholesome foods to “manufactured foods” like margarine. Trans-fatty acids and high fructose corn syrup are killing us all.

Can I pop it in Olive Oil??

It sure seems you could. Oil is oil I suppose. We'll have to try this at some point.

Pesto sounds good. I usually put parmesan cheese on instead of salt.

Recently, just for a change, I put olive oil on the popcorn. Adios butter!

Now you have me wondering about alternatives. I wonder if hot bacon fat would taste good on popcorn. I mean, it's bacon. It's got to be good.

They can have my butter when they pry it from my cold dead hands.

If it's butter, it should slide out of your hands pretty easily.

Decreases insulin response

I've known UK medicine was behind the times, however I didn't think it was by about a decade. Metabolic syndrome is finally getting recognition in US medical circles. This seems to have escaped the "government medicine" experts in the UK.

If you do butter and toast everyday...just change that one habit...

But that is what toast/bread is *for*... A convenient means to carry and handle butter.

I wonder if hot bacon fat would taste good on popcorn.

In lieu of butter? Might be pretty tasty but pretty greasy/sticky.

Try it and start a bacon-popcorn thread. You'll get lots of FReepers and LOTS of bacon pictures!

My father died a week short of his 90th B-day, after getting stuck in a convalescent hospital with a fractured hip, where they fed him politically correct poison, and wouldn’t let him excercise. He had been the most politically incorrect eater on earth.

Pass The Butter . Please.

This is interesting . .. .

Margarine was originally manufactured to fatten turkeys When it killed the turkeys, the people who had put all the money into the research wanted a payback so they put their heads together to figure out what to do with this product to get their money back.
It was a white substance with no food appeal so they added the yellow colouring and sold it to people to use in place of butter. How do you like it? They have come out with some clever new flavourings..

DO YOU KNOW.. The difference between margarine and butter?

Read on to the end...gets very interesting!

Both have the same amount of calories.

Butter is slightly higher in saturated fats at 8 grams; compared to 5 grams for margarine.

Eating margarine can increase heart disease in women by 53% over eating the same amount of butter, according to a recent Harvard Medical Study.

Eating butter increases the absorption of many other nutrients in other foods.

Butter has many nutritional benefits where margarine has a few and
only because they are added!

Butter tastes much better than margarine and it can enhance the flavours of other foods.

Butter has been around for centuries where margarine has been around for less than 100 years .

And now, for Margarine..

Very High in Trans fatty acids.

Triples risk of coronary heart disease .
Increases total cholesterol and LDL (this is the bad cholesterol) and lowers HDL cholesterol, (the good cholesterol)

Increases the risk of cancers up to five times..

Lowers quality of breast milk.

Decreases immune response.

Decreases insulin response.

And here’s the most disturbing fact.... HERE IS THE PART THAT IS VERY INTERESTING!

Margarine is but ONE MOLECULE away from being PLASTIC... and shares 27 ingredients with PAINT

These facts alone were enough to have me avoiding margarine for life and anything else that is hydrogenated (this means hydrogen is added, changing the molecular structure of the substance).

You can try this yourself:

Purchase a tub of margarine and leave it open in your garage or shaded area. Within a couple of days you will notice a couple of things:

* no flies, not even those pesky fruit flies will go near it (that should tell you something)

* it does not rot or smell differently because it has no nutritional value ; nothing will grow on it. Even those teeny weeny microorganisms will not a find a home to grow. Why? Because it is nearly plastic . Would you melt your Tupperware and spread that on your toast?

Share This With Your Friends.....(If you want to butter them up’)!

Chinese Proverb:
When someone shares something of value with you and you benefit from it, you have a moral obligation to share it with others.
Pass the BUTTER PLEASE

I eat butter (and eggs) but because I also do many hours of cardio each week (spin class and bike outdoors) it doesn't have any effect on my cholesterol

You are !00% wrong

Modern Margerines have ZERO Trans Fats and are supplemented with Omega 3s

Much healthier than butter

It’s not the fat that will kill you, it’s the starch and sugar.

I went low-carb and eat as much butter, cheese, meat, and bacon as I want to (not to excess, but I’m certainly not deprived) and my cholesterol DROPPED BY 80 POINTS.
By conventional “wisdom” I should be dead by now.

I’m sick of these know-nothing low-fat idiot doctors dispensing advice that is going to kill people. Too many vegetable oils (their preferred oil) isn’t good either as they have too many Omega-6 oils in it which cause inflammation and in turn heart disease.
