With the window of survivability still open for Haitians trapped in the rubble of last week's catastrophic earthquake, the UN and FEMA are telling search and rescue teams waiting to deploy to Haiti to forget about it.
Reports out of Houston are saying that one of the premier search and rescue units in the world has been on standby since shortly after the quake but was never called.
Texas TV station KTRK gave this description of Texas Task Force 1:
The TX-TF1 team which was activated for this deployment was a Type I Urban Search and Rescue Team which is comprised of 80 personnel, 4 search and rescue canines, search and technical rescue personnel, physicians, paramedics, structural engineers, other support personnel, and approximately 50 tons of rescue equipment and supplies. The team is self-sustaining for 14 days and deployable by aircraft to anywhere within 4 hours of activation. The task force has also deployed nationally over 70 times, to include the Shuttle Columbia disaster, the World Trade Center, Hurricanes Katrina and Ike.
KTRK and The Houston Chronicle are both reporting:
"The United Nations mission in the country has declared the search and rescue teams already in the nation are sufficient to handle the task and the Texas team and others prepared to deploy would not be needed."
Anyone paying attention over the weekend knows that people were still being rescued, and others that rescuers knew were alive died while waiting to be rescued.
This is yet one more example of Barack Obama failing to take the bull by the horns and get promised help to the Haitians quickly and efficiently.
Reuters notes that there is talk that Obama's response could end up hurting him politically:
This could be a foreign policy Katrina for Obama," said Larry Birns, director of the Council on Hemispheric Affairs, a Washington think tank.
Birns said already there were negative headlines coming out of Haiti because aid is flowing too slowly.
"The Obama administration cannot allow itself to be tarnished by the kind of headlines that Bush was getting because of Katrina," he said.
The Obama administration has made a show of portraying Obama as hands-on in the relief effort, even releasing a timeline of his phone calls and meetings on Haiti since the quake struck.
Obama spent yesterday campaigning, first in a Black church in Washington, D.C. and then in Boston for Democrat U.S. Senate nominee Martha Coakley.
I saw Orlando Salinas’ report early this morning (before sunrise in Haiti). He said the U.S. military working the airport were furious (but can’t say so on camera)that they had to constantly disrupt aid distribution from there to accomodate diplomats flying in for photo-ops.
The UN has a published goal of reducing the population of the planet to 1 billion, or 500 million depending on which UN subsidiary you ask.
So why would they do anything to protect lives of people in a UN protectorate?
If you have seen the pictures of the UN dump truck dumping human bodies in Haiti, then you’ll have a greater understanding of the vile, anti-human, global political and social corruption that is the UN.
Interesting Katrina/Haiti comparisons made above...
Local LA/New Orleans govt (D) = equal to = Haiti UN contingent
...both equally corrupt and inefficient...
WTF!!!
Where ever they are now - they are set up and saving lives

WE didn’t compare Haiti to Katrina. The bamo administration did. Before the quake stopped. The first response out of their state controlled media was bam would show the world how to respond to a disaster...while comparing it to Bush’s “sluggish” response to Katrina.
HE was going to do it right. HE was going to play GOD in Haiti. HE would never dither ....”like Bush did.”
It was sickening from the first moment on. THEY politicized this beyond comprehension.
Don’t blame us for comparing Haiti to Katrina. WE never did.
I never thought I'd see the day freepers were more concerned about throwing 'I told you sos' around than helping the people of Haiti.
This site is over run with people doing the Katrina/Bush vs. Obama/Haiti anger.
I will try. I wish I could go.
I wonder if Bush told Obama the other day, “Welcome to my world.”
Obama’s “Katrina” was Fort Hood and the Underwear Bomber.
Haiti is not the US. Obama’s not the president of Haiti.
Did the UN make them tear down the first one as I saw posted up thread??
that’s because Haiti is a Christian Nation, were it a Muslim Nation oh boy... they would be all over it!

do you have a link to the stated goal of the UN
and to the dump truck pictures.
Not me, rintense. I have posted on a different thread my feelings on Haiti which has nothing to do with either Bush or Hatrina, or even obama’s response. I was only addressing the charge you made that we were somehow responsible for the comparison between Katrina and Haiti, and we were not.
Most of what you are seeing here is a response to the administration’s hypocritical response.
obama did it again at the MLK thing at the black church yesterday. HE is the one who keeps making this comparison. The anger is at him and the dems for doing so. Especially in light of complete lack of involvement...even though the WH realeased a supposed “timeline” of his concern. It is evil what he is doing. The party for michelle was over the top while thousands upon thousands of people he claimed to “feel” for were dying at the same time they were dining on lamb and rock lobster. It is twisted.
If you can’t see the inherant evil in what obama and his propaganda machine is doing, or understand why we are angry, then so be it.
Same hospital as Fox reported on -
I have not seen any news reports of IDF being forced to relocate it by UN ? -
However if they did, it was done quickly
Below is link to new thread I just posted where IDF is sending reinforcements to Haiti - more med staff and equipment
CNN was on air singing praises of IDF hospital - most critical patients are being moved there

No, it is because the victims are all dead. It is now a recovery operation. They are just finding bodies now and are going to start using bulldozers. Someone waited too long to green-light all of the rescue teams. The earthquake happened on Tuesday and we are just now getting in gear. We just called up some transport units and the ready reserve ships over the weekend. They will not be on the scene until next week. this will turn out to be the same thing as Katrina, too little help sent in the first wave.
Thanks for the up date...
In Paris, French Foreign Minister Bernard Kouchner said today that an international Haiti reconstruction conference will be held on Jan. 25 in Montreal.
There ya go Haiti, all your problems are solved.
Good for him.
I have friends who have left and more leaving now. Their experienced hands will be of great value I am positive. I spent three weeks in Biloxi shortly after Katrina (36' storm surge), I know good hands are always needed the earlier the better for those still under rubble. Full speed ahead!
Tell your coworker I said thanks once he returns.
