Amid the rash of appeals for Haiti donations has come a call from one of the most prominent voices on the American right for people to hang on to their cash because Barack Obama might steal it.
Rush Limbaugh, the most popular radio talkshow host, who is sometimes described as the real leader of the Republican party, says Americans should not give a penny to a population struggling for survival after the earthquake.
Limbaugh agreed with a caller suspicious that the White House website was being used to direct funds to the American Red Cross. "Would you trust the money's gonna go to Haiti?" the caller asked. Limbaugh then said Obama was exploiting the disaster for political ends.
"This [the earthquake] will play right into Obama's hands," said Limbaugh. "He's humanitarian, compassionate. They'll use this to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the black community both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country. This is made to order for them."
Limbaugh also warned Americans against donating money. "Besides, we've already donated to Haiti. It's called the US income tax," he said.

You are a real idiot!
Headline..........
Don't give Haitians a penny, says US conservative website poster Red in Blue PA.
See how easy it is.
His reasoning (as I recall) was that if you put any personal information into that site, it is going to be mined for political purposes, email addresses and so on.
With the history of this White House doing just that, I do not think that is an unreasonable assumption.
Keep in mind that rules and regulations mean nothing to those people. They have seen there are no political repercussions for breaking the rules (as evidenced by the way they had their websites set up for donations during the campaign, and how they used information in the past) so they are going to do what they think is best for them.
Remember, they are from the only political machine more corrupt than Massachusetts, and that is Chicago. Headed by Rahm Emmanuel.
I didn’t see any comments link on that page, I wasn’t going to register anyway.
ah....jeeze, why is it so hard to imagine someone doesn’t know what the guardian is all about?
Rush said the left would claim just this when he said he would give to private charities that have a proven track record (as opposed to the Obama gang that is proven to go back on its word.)
Oh, there are those here. I call them deep cover trolls.
Don’t go away because of these jerks. The good guys far outnumber the creeps. :)
I would trust the Salvation Army and probably my church. Others? I’m no sure.
Shame on you! Don’t you know that’s against “right to life” according to some conservatives?
They’ll pull it after they’ve decided you’ve suffered enough.
**Read the numerous Freepers claiming that “haiti deserved it” and other such nonsense. There is no shortage of them lately.....and it makes FR look very bad.**
You really need to get your head out of your liberal butt...or you’ve been in PA too damn long.
You’ve CHANGED SUBJECT.. like a LIBERAL TROLL.
and it was DANNY GLOVER (SuperLIBERAL) who blamed the Haiti Earthquake on GLOBULL WARMING... and Rev. Robertson mentioned a 100 year old story...
GET SOME FACTS.. you’re sounding like a LIBERAL
I happened to be listening when he was discussing this. This is so distorted.
I totally agree with what he said. I would never donate through the government and, no, I do not trust them.
I Plan to donate directly to the Red Cross and to the Salvation Army.
I won’t even donate through my church because I don’t trust them either. They think the United Nations is a great place to give money.
Other churches who do direct ministry would be fine though.
And, by the way, Rush is among the top ten celebrity givers to charity and, as a percentage of actual income, probably No. One.
Yeah, that’s what it looks like.
LOL!
Did you listen to the show?
You are thick and slow.
What a load of crap. He spent the whole show talking about donating to the Red Cross or to local charities. He said don’t give the money to the government because only 30c out of every dollar would go there.
Media Matters, in their typical style, dug for one quote they could spin.
Sure there would be people dumb enough to donate through the White House and the White House has suggested it.
And you may well be one of them from the clueless posts you’ve made here today.
