Amid the rash of appeals for Haiti donations has come a call from one of the most prominent voices on the American right for people to hang on to their cash because Barack Obama might steal it.
Rush Limbaugh, the most popular radio talkshow host, who is sometimes described as the real leader of the Republican party, says Americans should not give a penny to a population struggling for survival after the earthquake.
Limbaugh agreed with a caller suspicious that the White House website was being used to direct funds to the American Red Cross. "Would you trust the money's gonna go to Haiti?" the caller asked. Limbaugh then said Obama was exploiting the disaster for political ends.
"This [the earthquake] will play right into Obama's hands," said Limbaugh. "He's humanitarian, compassionate. They'll use this to burnish their, shall we say, credibility with the black community – both light-skinned and dark-skinned black community in this country. This is made to order for them."
Limbaugh also warned Americans against donating money. "Besides, we've already donated to Haiti. It's called the US income tax," he said.

He was right when he said that we have already donated. Where did "commander zero" get the $100,000,000 that he offered? Not from his book sales but the US taxpayer.
Who is paying for the 10,000 US Military that are supposed to be there tomorrow? The US taxpayer.
General McChrystal desperately asked for 40-80,000 troops 6 months ago but they aren't there and yet he can mobilize 10,000 top shelf 82nd Airborne and Marines to Haiti in a few days?
How much in US foreign aid have we given Haiti in the last 15 yrs. since we put a voodoo priest and drug dealer back in power?
I listened to the program and Rush said that if you want to donate to give to private charitable institutions. I guess they forgot to add that.
Will we hear about multi-millionaire rapper wycleff jean charging his own charity for Haiti rent for using his own property and then collecting a six figure salary to run it?
We heard about Pat Robertson's truthful statements but will the msm put danny glover's ridiculous statements on the front page?

You should know by now to listen to what Rush says, not what the media says he said.
No it isn’t. Rush is telling people to be wary of who you donate to. It is not christian or moral to give your money to dictators and thugs, that never give any relief to the actual people who could use it.
Further, what will cash script get anyone down there, what can they actually buy right now with it?

Exactly, as Rush did get a rash of called, myself included, that “Turned myself in’ to Tattletale.gov or whatever that was.. I still get DNC talking points and requests for donations.

First of all, let me thank you for apologizing and recognizing your error.
Second of all, it's unfortunate that such comments were made, and they should be pulled. However, I think you're missing the context of them. Haiti has been an impoverished country since its Revolution. FReepers are angry that the government is pissing away more millions to a country that have already had millions thrown at it.

And my friend, since so few people actually pay taxes on this frickin country and Obama making sure millions more wont due to losing their jobs, and so many more people living off wealth transfer via taxes, they ARE donations. Government IS the biggest charity with OUR tax money.
