The Quayled Lady: Why You Should Forget Sarah Palin
American Thinker ^ | January 17, 2010 | Selwyn Duke

Really, there's precious little fairness in the world. People tend to be slaves to emotion, and prejudices often reign supreme, even (in fact, especially) in those who rail against prejudice. This is why we'll see millions of Americans reflexively dismiss a politician simply because of the letter following his name. It is why people will often oppose a position they would otherwise support simply because it's being advocated by someone they dislike. Ah, that troublesome human nature.

This brings us to Sarah Palin, the Wasilla woman often billed as the best hope of the GOP. She certainly isn't one of those plain vanilla characters who inspire blasé reactions, that's for sure. It's just so often the case that people either love her or hate her, believe she is the cat's meow or the pig with lipstick, a political sensation or a puerile simpleton. I'm in neither camp.

Scrape away the emotionalism, and one realizes that Palin isn't at either extreme. Underestimated by the left and overestimated by the right, the truth about her lies somewhere in between. Where, exactly? That is secondary, because there is a more important point here relating to Palin's political future.

She doesn't have one.

I know this will raise the hackles of many, but you can forget Sarah Palin. I say this not because of her defects in ideology or lack of competency, but for a very simple reason: She has been Quayled.

Many of you know that I'm referring to what ensued after former Vice President Dan Quayle gave a public appearance at a school spelling bee in Trenton, New Jersey in 1992.

UH...NOT according to recent info...there are NOT “more of them then (sic) of us”.....

Really???? Well that is certainly good news!!!! I thought there were more liberals, than conservatives, at least among voters.....guess the last election was incorrect. Let's hope so.

Oh. A new, brilliant insight into Sarah Palin. Never been thought of before. This guy’s a genius.

I’m sure it has nothing to do with Romney political hacks.

If the supporters of Palin fail to respond and be positive about their belief in her, to those detractors, she will suffer the fate of Dan Quayle

This is true, let's just hope there are more of her supporters than detractors.

“She has been Quayled. “

People forget the level of hatred towards Reagan. They tried to Quayle him all the time.

Ah----this is true, but unless our legions have swelled ten fold, the results may still be the same. We have a lot of work to do, assuming she throws her hat in the ring, and that's a very big if at this point.

Good thing Selwyn Duke wasn't on the fourth 911 plane where the passengers brought down the terrorists and if they died doing it, they died well and won a huge victory.

Instead of "Let's roll," THIS guy Selwyn (his last name is too good for him and an insult to a great American) is advocating ... "Let's roll over."

A guaranteed loser, in other words. Not somebody you want on the team to win.

Saying you don’t think Palin is the future of the party doesn’t constitute “rolling over”.

the RNC and GOP is doing everything they can to undermine her, to dilute her popularity. funny how a woman that grew up without television, only having library books for entertainment, is getting bashed on her intelligence. strange, considering no one on the right ever bashed GWBush or 0bama on intelligence issues... both being easy targets.

considering all she had was facebook... this ‘unintelligent’ woman schooled the left while leading the right using only her pc.

any such attacks are flat out insulting and the only response should be ridicule

Selwyn has lost his way. In using the silly word "Quayled" he is describing one of the most formidable political machines of personal destruction in Western Civilization. This machine does need the thought police of the former Soviet Union. It does not need the sudden quick demise or imprisonment of dissidents as in Iran and China.

It is a leftist horde of lick spittle politicians, Hollywood know it alls, so called funny men on television. Added to that the flunkies and lackeys (bit of George Orwell there) of the press. It has in it's thrall innocent members of the general public. The fools do not realize what this machine is. If they did and then still went with it- so be it.

The magazine Atlantic had some misgivings and devoted a major review titled "Quayle was right". For those that do not remember, Quayle had criticized the sit com, "Murphy Brown". Brown was pictured as a hard driving executive type person and then decided to be in vogue and have a child. No husband of course.

Quayle decried the effect of single woman parentage on a child. What was not said that the skinny unlikely "Murphy Brown" was hardly likely to bear a child. If she did, in real life, she would have a surrogate to look after it. Then waltzed off back to earning mega bucks. What Quayle meant was the carnage that was being enacted, of young single moms without skills and high paying jobs. The reduced chances of the children they bore,

Well they had their success. They have a destructive machine that would have made old Josef Goebbels drool. Anyway one doubts this? Look at the derision against George W. Bush, former president. Amounts not to honest laughs but rotten hatred.

Wait if you wish; there are doers and there are watchers.

Having observed Palin’s brilliance, character, and unusually strong qualifications, and seeing that she is exactly the candidate that can ubdo the evil that the last four presidents have done or allowed to be done, and also recognizing the extreme unliklihood that anyone with even a quarter of her ability might ever come along, I feel compelled to work to be sure that this incredible prize will be our next president.

Now is the time; he who hesitates is lost.

I have no use for these wussified and alleged Republicans.

“...oh they don’t like so and so...so they have deselected a possible candidate for me....waaaaaahhhhh”

I will never let the media tell me who I can and cannot support.

Look - in this politically correct zoo we call a society that the liberals created - I can’t think of any other person more qualified to bring down the Messiah other than Mrs. Palin.. Unless an African-American-Woman suddenly emerges out of the GOP with a Ronald Reagan philosophy - in between now and 2012, Any white-male candidate will be labeled as a racist, and how dare he even run against Obama...
I say we live or die with Palin - let it roll.
