The US military's takeover of emergency operations in Haiti has triggered a diplomatic row with countries and aid agencies furious at having flights redirected.
Brazil and France lodged an official protest with Washington after US military aircraft were given priority at Port-au-Prince's congested airport, forcing many non-US flights to divert to the Dominican Republic.
Brasilia warned it would not relinquish command of United Nations forces in Haiti and Paris complained the airport had become a US "annexe", exposing a brewing power struggle amid the global relief effort. The Red Cross and Médecins Sans Frontières also complained about diverted flights.

I agree, but don’t you find it delicious that our lovely and loved president is pissing off everybody in the world trying to earn his unearned Nobel?
Let me get this straight. We’re doing the lion’s share of the heavy lifting and dwarfing these countries in donations (both national and personal) and we have to listen to the nation that you see when you look up “surrender” in the dictionary and the Sodom & Gomorrah of Latin America? STFU
Let’s turn in all over to France and the UN, I’m sure that they will do a much better job.
Agreed, especially after hearing them say ‘the white outsider’s are the problem’!
Pfft , out of there.
I wonder if this story will ever see the light of day in America-could reflect poorly upon his Omnipotence.
Port Au Prince airport is a VERY small airport and if we (the USA) are providing the bulk of the aid to Haiti, I see nothing wrong with giving our flights priority.
Somebody needs to be in charge and it looks like Haiti is utterly incapable of running things for the moment. If not us than who? Does Brazil want to run the show? How about France? Just who do these countries want to run the show. I’m so sick and tired about piss-ant countries criticizing the US.

Wow. That happened faster than I anticipated! I had predicted a FULL seven days before the power-grabs started.
*SNORT*
I think it’s time for America’s “first international President” to show us how good he is at repairing all those international rifts brought about by the previous administration. Didn’t he once say something about healing relationships with our allies?
Time to man up, Zer0!
A local medical team was denied permission to land because Hillary Clinton was at the airport.
We know that President Bush chose not to land in Louisiana so as not to disrupt the rescue efforts.
The msm chose to demonize that decision, but God knows.
Weasley Clark wannabe in action at the airport?
Obammma’s fault
Bush’s fault.
The fix is in.
Obama is shutting out the rest of the world from horning in on HIS emergency. This is HIS 9/11 and he wants all the limelight.
Come on man, don’t hold back.
Tell us how ya really feel.
Isn’t that the way it usually is?
The Haitian government, paralysed by the destruction of the presidential palace and ministries, signed a memorandum of understanding formally transferring control of Toussaint L'Ouverture airport to the US. Hillary Clinton, the US secretary of state, flew in on Saturday and met Préval near the airport. "We will be here today, tomorrow and for the time ahead," she said.
