A humanitarian disaster in the making. We should expect anywhere from 2 to 3 million dead after this is all over. While people starve, Bill Clinton is in Mass. stumping for some Dem babe.
Obama will be damned for this one.
Hillary is going over there tomorrow.
Seriously!
I am not kidding!
“Id like to know why the supplies are not being distributed from the airport expeditiously.”
....... Witnesses reported gangs of young men armed with machetes stalking through the capital. As the security situation continued to deteriorate, UN peacekeepers warned aid workers they needed to travel with guards.
Falling for what?
These 3rd world countries sometimes make it VERY difficult to help. The act like animals sometimes. I hope they get the help they need fast.
Coming to a capital near you. Just wait.
I'm sorry, my fellow Freeper. But, these people, have been living off of the American/UN tit for so long that they've never learned to prepare and fend for themselves. If I'm desperate for rent money and I ask my neighbor for help, I can't bitch about the timing. I should be glad that they are helping at all. Haiti has been the Africa of the west for too long and, after helping them through this time of need, we need to ween them from the welfare tit. Although it's politically expedient to compare this to Katrina, we need to quit being the welfare to the world while those receiving give us the middle finger.

I’m aware of that. I’m not sure why that’s a deterrent for the ‘adults’ in charge.
Few have better work ethics than Haitians.
I spent five years there and have the utmost of respect for many of the people.
Problem is in 1984 we sent Duvalier to France and there was no plan in place to liberate the country. Many are uneducated and don't have a clue what free market capitalism or Democracy even mean.
We(I say we since we flew Duvalier to France) have left a backward third world poor, poor country adrift for over 20 years and now you see the result.
It's been one dictator after another and probably will remain so.
Yikes, ouch and damn....beam me up Scottie.....this can't be the US of A
Well yes,i did say they must take responsibility for their own government. Unless you’re telling me they have no capable leader on the horizon? Someone not corrupt?
What exactly are the UN peace keepers doing about it?
About the usual? Nothing?
According to my research we have sent Haiti from 2000 to 2008 $9.04 billion US tax payer dollars in aid and now obama is sending them an additional $100 million US tax payer dollars? It seems like a drop in the bucket. I’m just saying.
The Haitians are using whatever they can to rescue trapped people. They are disposing of their dead the best they can. There are pockets of trouble, but nothing massive. The whole of the society in Port au Prince was wiped out in thirty seconds on Tuesday. The government--gone. Jobs, stores, the economy--gone. Water, electric, sewage utilities--gone. Hospitals, clinics--gone.
I just saw Steve Harrigan on Fox report he saw Haitians, not foreign aid workers, distributing rice meals to their fellow Haitians.
The Haiti people have held up quite well considering all they've been through in the past four days.
Our rule of thumb is get the aid in by 72 hours. We haven't done that, thanks to our kow-towing to the bureaucracy.
Many are uneducated and don’t have a clue what free market capitalism or Democracy even mean.

Haiti sounds a lot like the good old USA!
Sleeves rolled up -- discussing important public posturing
hang on not to jump up for obama on this but why are they having their hand out for us when their own president has said that he can’t live in his palace and he’s going to go away .
isn’t 100,000 to 200,000 obama has aid he will bring to America not enough for them, isn’t billions over the last 3 years now enough, isn’t all the water, food and money and help we’re giving not enough ?
why do they mention he is the first black president/
are they now claiming brothers together when before this happened they were killing each other every day and night, drugs, gangs, criminals, killings etc was rife
this just shows that we should not being them here as they should stay and help rebuild their own country with us helping with logistics
the Haitians over here should be going over to help family and friends to build their country too
one thing they should not be doing is blaming the most generous country in the world, if they cannot look at themselves and have to look at others then look at France seing as they were a colony of that country
I disagree with obama on about everything but I don’t see why this country gets the blame eevrytime
They have to decide how this will help them best politically and perhaps improve his tanking numbers, although I 'm afraid it's a bit too late for that.
Bringing in as many new voters as possible will probably be the overall goal of not wasting this crisis.
You can also be sure that a lot is going on in the background of dc as the world concentrates on the plight of Haiti.
What change zero is bringing to the US we will probably find out months or weeks from now they never let a good crisis go to waste.
