You can’t really compare the earthquake in Eureka to the earthquake in Haiti.
In Eureka, no one was killed, and mostly minor damage. Our country is built to withstand huge earthquakes. I was in the Loma Prieta earthquake, and it was bigger than the one in Haiti. It was nothing like the images we are seeing from Haiti.
I guess Chavez was wrong about smelling El Diablo near President Bush. It was himself he smelled.
May the only destruction be the collapse of the Presidential Palace and only 1 casualty.

Actually the Haiti quake was 10 times greater than the new quake. The richter scale is not linear in power, it is expotential.

I was just looking at images from Haiti. I just can’t take it lightly. It’s too devastating.
The Richter Scale is a base-10 logarithm. Each increase of 1 point on the Richter Scale represents a 10-fold increase in magnitude. I think an earthquake of 5.9 would be about twice the magnitude of a 5.7. Back-of-the-envelope estimation.
