Haitians have begun blocking their roads with corpses in a dramatic protest against the delay in aid at the capital of Port-au-Prince.

The sight was witnessed by TIME magazine photographer Shaul Schwarz, who told Reuters news agency that he saw two roadblocks in the city formed entirely of dead bodies jammed together.
"They are starting to block the roads with bodies; it's getting ugly out there. People are fed up with getting no help," he was reported as saying. (READ MORE: Despair as Haiti sees little sign of aid)
In the third night since the quake, residents have been desperately searching for food, water and medical supplies. (READ MORE: US takes over Haiti air traffic control)
The estimated death toll of the quake is 50,000, with eyewitnesses saying the stench of corpses is filling the streets.
A local US security expert, Blair Hawkins, told Australia's ABC that "the people are getting angry. There's no water, there's no food out there." (READ MORE: Queensland man fears for family in Haiti)
The US is assisting by sending more than 5000 soldiers to the badly damaged capital. The soldiers and aid workers will ferry aid and medical supplies into the city from an aircraft carrier stocked with supplies.
Looting is prevalent throughout the city as desperate survivors try to find food.
Reports say the capital has been lawless since the disaster as policemen are busy rescuing and burying their own families.
I understand that Detroit is nearly as dysfunctional as Haiti is, but now’s not the time for humor, dark, or otherwise.
They stated on TV last night it was a protest over aid taking too long to get there.
Apparently, they feel entitled to the aid.
Exactly.
These absurdities are often paralelled elsewhere...
Pat Robertson, for example, has done more to actually HELP, yet people are so upset by what he says about it...
Where is the Rev. Jesse Jackson?
Rebuild Haiti? Rebuild Detroit? High speed rail anyone?
Troops needed in Afghanistan? Nothing, no presidential leadership.
Troop surge to Haiti? PRESIDENT CALLS FORMER PRESIDENTS, can't handle the job?
More threats of terrorism on the U.S.A.? Economic collapse?
Federal court in California is a circus, lawyer hack traitors working feverishly to overturn millions of voters in more than a dozen states because a few perverts are upset about their little wee wees?
U.S. soldiers spilling their blood to secure various human rights virtually abandoned while the politburo of lawyers are undermining your freedoms here?
Priorities?
What are yours? Please, do tell...
Don't worry, Congress will build a high speed rail train from Detroit and Nancy Pelosi will arive to save them all...
Sure they are, and most of us see them clearly. No harm in pointing them out and discussing them on the Haiti threads.
My only complaint was in your making a joke out of it.
Ever read The Divine Comedy by Dante??? The title alone makes you think...
"W" should take a week offsick.
So, they’re all DUmmies?
Suppressing important details to ‘prevent further panic’.
BTW, I was only commenting on the experience you shared. I am deeply sorry for the people there...like the woman who lost 4 children during the quake and the 5th later at a hospital.
Not sure what you mean. Have to DUmb it down a bit.
“That place is going to be 1 million times worse than New Orleans “
Sadly, you are almost certainly correct, and the “Bush failed during Katrina” crowd will have a field day with this one.
Napolitano is now in a position to redeem herself since she is in charge of The Department of Homeland Security, of which FEMA is a part.
Hey Janet! Let’s get together in a week or so and we’ll discuss how well the “system is working” there in Haiti.
I fear for our military & all those good people trying to help. Prayers for all.
“Its extremely frustrating.”
O’Reilly’s opening dialog dealt with this subject last night.
I hope we do all we can to help the citizens of Haiti, but unless we annex it, the corrupt leader(s) their will probably sell the food and medical supplies and spend the proceeds on a Lear jet, lap dances and 24 carat gold “grills”.
hehe, I don't think the Hatians are going to like that given their history.
Their = there.
What, no 3-D?
The media loves tragedy, body counts and blame.
Never mind that Haiti was a lawless, broken and decrepit hellhole before this disaster.
You know, this attitude is going to piss off a lot of Americans who will make the observation that the Haitians are biting the hand that feeds.
Especially since the Air Traffic Control tower in Port-au-Prince collapsed, and the USAF had to go in and construct a temporary ATC.
Charitable (US) relief supplies were cleared to land yesterday morning, but if Haitians are going to start shooting up the place, and using bodies to block roads...well, I don't think martyrdom is demanded of, or constructive for, aid workers.
There are "thousands" of US Marines en route -- pray for those guys and gals.
How long did it take New Orleans after Katrina?
Not long, not long at all.
What I find hugely frustrating is we are all told to keep at least, at least 3 days of supplies on hand.
No matter where one is in the world, it will take 3 days for help to start to arrive. 3 days for help to START to arrive.
Lesson from Haiti: Store your supplies where they will be accessible in the aftermath. (House falls down...food in basement pantry. No good.)
