As many as eight Army officers may be punished for failing to heed warning signs and take action against suspected Fort Hood gunman Maj. Nidal Hasan, a U.S. official said Thursday.
First reported in the Los Angeles Times, an official familiar with a Pentagon review of the case, which will be discussed at a briefing Friday, said the officers who face discipline hold ranks of colonel and below.

This is so much BS
Here somes the PC defense and it might fly.
Those of you currently in the Army, repeat the following, when you enter a latrine behind an Ayrab. “What’s that smell! Did someone slaughter a goat in here? No, seriously, I wanna know!”
Damned if you do...damned if you don’t.
And what about Gen Casey who said that the loss of diversity would be worse than the murders? The buck should at least think about not stopping until it gets to him.
It should, the whole time you are in they drill it into you.
Command Stand Downs for Sexual Harassment, Safety, Discrimination, on and on
I swear in just a four year period I had 11+ Diversity/Cultural Sensitivity Trainings and Stand downs.
They used to open with a statement from the commander saying something like “If you want to know how to ruin your career and get yourself kicked out with a less than honorable discharge, this is the way”
This is the stuff these Liberal Pentagon Leaders push down from the politicians.
Well, there's a surprise.
Here we go, so if Navy Seals are tough on terrorists, they get the 9th degree and sent to jail and face trial, but if you aren’t tough enough on a potential terrorist, you face being punished...........? Which one is it that this administration wants our troops to do because these two cases make it obvious it’s a career/punishment/job loss/jail tossup!
Colenel and below - yessiree - that’s where the problem must lay. Because everyone knows that Colenel and below are the ones who make policy/sarc
Thank goodness, you understood my sloppily worded post.
In my civilian opinion, those officers were following directives and I’m willing to wager that “policy” called for a “hands off or special treatment” approach regarding Muslims. He slipped right through the cracks designed by the politically correct crowd at the top.
I harken back to General Casey’s comment about ‘the larger tragedy would be if all muslims were put under suspicion due to Hasan’s acts,’ (paraphrasing).
Thanks again, for your comments.
No punishment that doesn't deal with Casey first --- as in fired, out of here --- can be justified by any rational person. When a general parrots unbelieveably PC trash, like "feelings outweigh murders," it is time to start at the top and work down.
We can deal with the colonels later.
Your statement is incredible. Besides the enormous wasted time, the aggravation must be unbearable. I refused to attend this nonsense at the university. I did take an online course on responding to sexual harrassment. That course was reasonable because it focused on reporting to others when an allegation occurred. I attended a diversity presentation at an event for parents of adopted Chinese children. I walked out after the moderator (an upper class white woman) asserted that everyone in the room had white privilege.
I am surprised that the military can function with this level of political correctness. The Ft. Hood event was a direct cause of the PC environment.
I don’t suppose they’ll be saying anything to Obama about putting him on the Homeland Security Advisory team, will they??? No, that would make WAY too much sense!
Prayers for any innocents who are being scapegoated.
“Hasan showed no signs of being violent or a threat. But parallels have been drawn between the missed signals in his case and those preceding the thwarted Christmas attempt to blow up a Detroit-bound U.S. airliner. President Barack Obama and his top national security aides have acknowledged they had intelligence about the alleged bomber, Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab, but failed to connect the dots.”
He was emailing the same dude the panty bomber was emailling. This was known, before each act happened.
PC kills.
You had the same reaction when I got the laert in email. I deleted it because it’s just what I expect of this admin, shoot the good guy
Yep,them damned captains and loootenants.I guess general casey got to write the memo personally.
Had they heeded the warning signs and acted against Hassan, they would be punished for that as well. That’s quite a setup they have there in the Army.
I was told by a lifelong Democrat VN veteran that he is now an "Independent" after what the Navy Seals have been put through (and for which they are still being persecuted).
Democrats cannot buy for any amount of money the integrity they've lost by going after our Navy Seals. After just one viewing of the movie The Hurt Locker, even more Americans will opt out of the Democrat Discipline for Navy Seals (and kid gloves for terrorists) mantra.
Thus far we've read over and over that those who recognized the danger, also feared for their jobs by red flagging Hassan. Their fear more than likely justified by a gung-ho "diversity" operational procedure. Remember the "diversity" remark after the shooting by the officer?
Well, in the Military you have to sign a log and if for some reason you didn’t attend, the command has to have a special make up session with you or send you to a special class.
I had back surgery one time and they made me go to a shuttle to drive me to another base so I could attend a makeup class with a bunch of other people.
Driving us to the base was 4.5 hrs each way and another 6 hrs in the stand down review. I blew my whole weekend because when I got back it was late on Friday and I was shipping out on Sunday. This stand down was putting me over the edge.
So we all decided that we would get blasted and swear off sleep for the next 2 days to get back at them. I think that was a safety stand down on alcohol if I remember.
Government Spending with Military Efficiency.
