Poll shocker: Scott Brown surges ahead in Senate race
Boston Herald ^ | Jan 15, 2010 | Jessica Van Sack

.."Riding a wave of opposition to Democratic health-care reform, GOP upstart Scott Brown is leading in the U.S. Senate race, raising the odds of a historic upset that would reverberate all the way to the White House, a new poll shows.

Although Brown’s 4-point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley is within the Suffolk University/7News survey’s margin of error, the underdog’s position at the top of the results stunned even pollster David Paleologos.

“It’s a Brown-out,” said Paleologos, director of Suffolk’s Political Research Center. “It’s a massive change in the political landscape.”

The poll shows Brown, a state senator from Wrentham, besting Coakley, the state’s attorney general, by 50 percent to 46 percent, the first major survey to show Brown in the lead. Unenrolled long-shot Joseph L. Kennedy, an information technology executive with no relation to the famous family, gets 3 percent of the vote. Only 1 percent of voters were undecided.

Paleologos said bellweather models show high numbers of independent voters turning out on election day, which benefits Brown, who has 65 percent of that bloc compared to Coakley’s 30 percent. Kennedy earns just 3 percent of the independent vote, and 1 percent are undecided.

Given the 4.4-point margin of error, the poll shows Coakley could win the race, Paleologos said. But if Brown’s momentum holds, he is poised to succeed the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy - and to halt health-care reform, the issue the late senator dubbed “the cause of my life.”...

Folks, Scott Brown is doing a terrific job!!! As an out-of-stater who recognized the appeal of Mr. Brown early on and the immense poitive blow for America, her freedom and individual liberty his win will bring forth, I urge all out-of-staters to contirbute and support Scott with financial contributions and administrative support as required right on to election day next Wednesday. We can immediately cripple the POTUS Obama socialist/communist/facist machine with a Brown victory on January 19th. In the future, history books will cite this race, if Scott wins, as one of the most important elections in USA history!!! All voters in Massachusetts, you are not only for yourselves but for the future freedom, security and individual liberty of your children and grand children!!!!

If this happens, Vicki Reggie Kennedy will be most unhappy on Jan. 19.

My fear is the SEIU arriving in Boston.

I hope there will be plenty of home video devices brought to the polls to document any voter intimidation like the Negro Panthers pulled in 2008. I also hope there will be diligent poll observers to let them know we are watching.

The Dems do hold the “common man” in contempt, and usually the common man hasn’t a clue of just how his interests are disregarded.

I was going to send money, until I went to Brown’s website and saw that he is pro abortion. Oh well, we’ll see what happens.

I was impressed with a lot of things about Col. West. Not only is he as conservative as it gets, and for all the right reasons, he could think quickly enough to respond well to Greg Gutfeld’s silliness.

I liked him as soon as I realized he was the pistol-packin’ colonel.

The Republican numbers are high, the something else numbers are low and the Democrat numbers are about right.

But if I were to guess, that seems like it could be about right this time around.

Republican turnout higher than Democrat turnout higher than Indy turnout. But Dem turnout not much higher than Indy turnout.

Just waded through the DUmpster to see what the mood was this morning. You can smell the fear more than usual:

If Coakley Loses, Expect Massive Dems Losses Later This Year

I especially like this line: "...a Coakley loss will embolden the Tea Party crowd and conservatives."

You betcha!

The thing that strikes me about this situation is that you have a career politician hack (Coakley) who has never really had to run a campaign and is probably of mediocre talent as a DA who is being beaten into the ground by a guy who has fought harder, scrappier and smarter with less money and no machine. It shows the hardening of the political arteries for many democrats in seemingly liberal safe areas, which might make for good conservative unknowns to think about running when they otherwise wouldn’t and couldn’t win. Think political Darwinism.

You also notice the Messiah has been told to stay far far away from this race.”

If 0bozo is toxic even in the bluest of blue states like Massachusetts, then where on earth is 0bozo going to to be able to campaign for the Democrats at in the November elections?

I am quite confident that SEIU and ACORN will insure that enough folks show up to vote for Coakley that she will easily win. Just think of all the folks they can bus in from out of state to vote using the names of Mass voters who don’t show up at the polls.

I heard him on Hannity one day. I was just listening to the voice and it indeed did sound genuine so much so that I started paying attention to what he was saying. I was impressed.

Yesterday I heard one of his ads on YT. I got a kick when he thanked a barking dog. That, comes from the heart. Scott Brown is human, not artificially polished.

My question is... how good is he at reading a teleprompter? ROFL.

Where were these SEIU/ACORN vermin you love so much in the New Jersey elections then? If I remember correctly, the Jersey elections were neck and neck going into elections day too, and yet Christie(R) managed to win it comfortably by 4.3%.
I think your confidence is misplaced.
