.."Riding a wave of opposition to Democratic health-care reform, GOP upstart Scott Brown is leading in the U.S. Senate race, raising the odds of a historic upset that would reverberate all the way to the White House, a new poll shows.
Although Browns 4-point lead over Democrat Martha Coakley is within the Suffolk University/7News surveys margin of error, the underdogs position at the top of the results stunned even pollster David Paleologos.
Its a Brown-out, said Paleologos, director of Suffolks Political Research Center. Its a massive change in the political landscape.
The poll shows Brown, a state senator from Wrentham, besting Coakley, the states attorney general, by 50 percent to 46 percent, the first major survey to show Brown in the lead. Unenrolled long-shot Joseph L. Kennedy, an information technology executive with no relation to the famous family, gets 3 percent of the vote. Only 1 percent of voters were undecided.
Paleologos said bellweather models show high numbers of independent voters turning out on election day, which benefits Brown, who has 65 percent of that bloc compared to Coakleys 30 percent. Kennedy earns just 3 percent of the independent vote, and 1 percent are undecided.
Given the 4.4-point margin of error, the poll shows Coakley could win the race, Paleologos said. But if Browns momentum holds, he is poised to succeed the late Sen. Edward M. Kennedy - and to halt health-care reform, the issue the late senator dubbed the cause of my life....

“Hopefully, Kerry will see the handwriting on the wall and drift away”
NEVER gonna happen. Mama T will throw his ass out quicker than you can say “Lovey”. The title of “senator” is the only thing keeping him from sleeping in his car, again.
He’ll pull a Teddy - there until death. Or maybe, just maybe the voters will wise up. Hmmm......
Yep I think it is that big - after driving down to the South Shore today convinced me, there such a lack of Coakley support on the personal level thoughout the state.
I received two calls from Brown’s campaign so far - none from the ice queen. Plus I got a mailer from him today.
She does have two big electronic signs going into Boston - one from IBEW 103 and a bi later another one, that’s it.
He’s on Howie everyday too!
West of Worcester (”Woo-stah”) she probably has support that runs in the 20s, if that.
As many have said, it's a numbers game. Turnout is important, but there is clearly no substitute for momentum, and it looks like that's in Brown's corner.
The great imponderable is the ACORN/SEIU factor. It'll doubtless be there in the cities, but after that....?
We'll see.
In the meantime, I'm finding myself scouring this board for every story about this election that I can get my hands on, it is that exciting!
Addictive, yes, but exciting!!!!
CA....
“Lovey...LOVEYYYYYYYY! These campaign people haven’t ahhsked me to stand next to Maatha in ever so long...and I AM the SENIOR Senator, still, aren’t I?”
“Don’t they know who I am??”
Exactly. I wonder how much of a surge in charter bus traffic there will be on the day before the election and election day? I wonder if that can be checked...
Exactly! He’s a mixture of vinegar and water, if you know what I mean. :)

disgusting!!!!!! wait til Howie gets a hold of THIS!!!!!!
He’s on Howie and WEEI as well! Love it!
That would be awesome - such a blowout win! Throw that in Galvin’s face when the seating games begin.
Idiot union leadership. The lights literally are on, but no one’s home.
In case you missed it, here’s Gerald “Tookie” Amirault from the Dennis&Callahan show on Thursday morning:

this should make you smile!
Yep! Howie will have this for breakfast!
I don’t think this is a real professional poll.
Don’t get your hopes up too much, folks. The rats will steal this just like they stole MN for Al Franken.
I DO hope they've got plenty of lawyers lined up. That's where he'll need the party's help.

For all those commenting about signs, I saw this yesterday: unknown driver in MA spots the BEST SCOTT BROWN SIGN evahhhhh.
I’m talking about the US Senate races.
And it’s almost certain to be the worst performance by Dems in MA in a US Senate race since 1972. The Republicans won in 1972 in MA. Weld came within 7 points of Kerry in 1996.
gonna pretend I don’t know it’s on the back of my truck tomorrow, too!
Obama loses his ability to persuade Nelson, Landrieu, Lincoln and all the rest that Coakley’s poor performance wasn’t a referendum on him.
He already cut a commercial for her.
Obama's Waterloo, indeed.
If they can’t deny these polls, I’m thinking he’s probably leading by more than four.
