KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (AP)—Phillip Fulmer wants to make it clear that he’s willing to help his alma mater. But he isn’t looking to replace his successor at Tennessee.

< snip >

The man who was 152-52 in 17 seasons at Tennessee did not refer to Lane Kiffin’s abrupt resignation. He called “recent events” painful and embarrassing.

Haha. I’m a UT (Texas) fan, and my heart jumped a bit at the headline.

UT could do a lot worse than taking back Fulmer. All the guy ever did was bring them a National Championship. Ok, they had some lean years towards the end, but every school has gone through that. We went through it, Bama went through it, LSU is going through it.

He consistently brought in top recruiting classes, and you know as an alum he bleeds Orange.

I think so ... though my guess is that Mack will be around for a while.

Sorry. Am not a Fulmer fan (as a coach). He needs to fade into the background. He had his time in the spotlight. Here’s an analogy: as most women can tell you, it’s easier to fight for your husband against a flesh and blood woman than it is the ghost of his previous wife (who’s attributes increase after her death). Kiffin and whoever takes the job will be fighting the ghost of Fulmer and his still loyal employees. Fulmer got a sweetheart deal out of the university upon his termination. I don’t feel any pity for him. He was well paid while employed and walked away a very rich man.

Hey Doc,
Gator fan here.

Did you happen to see Coach Myers was at the Kentucky Florida basket ball game the other night about the time this news broke.
Some one sent him an email and Urban just smiled and put it away.
Gots to believe his “heart jumped” a bit too.

When we need advice from a gator, we’ll call. Fulmer lost the fire, hung on to mediocre assistants, went lax on discipline and dug his own grave as coach.

Whoever was said, “In America, there are no second acts” must have been talking about Phil.

"Reports" say it's Cutcliffe to Tennessee, Skip Holtz to South Florida.

If true, Duke has got to be disappointed.

Cutcliffe was starting to turn them into a winning team.

Duke was one game away from becoming bowl-eligible. And as we all know - when a Duke football team becomes bowl-eligible, something must be going right.

A Texan came to the University of Tennessee and loved what he saw. He bought an orange jersy that he thought was an was an awesome color.

On his way home he died and went to hell only to be ressurected.

Arriving in Austins, he told his fellow Texans...... We must have a University and we’ll call it UT. We need colors like this jersey. The crowd roared approval.

It was much later that he examined his beautiful Tennessee orange jersey and to his dismay saw that in hell, it was burnt

That is how Texas came to have a UT and choose it’s colors Burnt orange

Heh heh, you didn’t fall for it, just as begging FSU to keep Bobby Bowden didn’t work. ;)

Cutcliffe would make more sense.
