Shops in Belgium running out of Stella, Leffe and Jupiler as Anheuser-Busch InBev workers blockade breweries in protest over job cuts.
Belgian beer-drinkers hoping to forget the recession and freezing weather weather over a few pints of their favourite brew are in for a shock.
Shops are set to run out of the best-selling Stella Artois, Leffe and Jupiler brands in the coming days, as workers blockade three breweries in Belgium owned by Anheuser-Busch InBev.
AB InBev, the world's biggest brewer, last week announced plans to make about 10pc of its staff in Western Europe redundant after years of falling beer consumption in the region.
The brewer plans to shed more than 300 staff in both Belgium and Germany, where it employs 2,700 and 3,000 people respectively.

Agreed...Stella is the Belgian Budwiser. The Trappists will just pick up more market share.

No, they are just not your style. Guinness is about the furthest thing you can get from a good Trappist Ale—and there are some superb ones.
Stella and Jupe won’t be missed, but can’t they at least let a few people through to make the Leffe?
