Since the names have been announced as being invited to assume the gigs, it means that Clinton and Bush have ALREADY said "yes".

That's how it works in the major leagues, folks.

Our advices to Bush are too late.

I agree, Bush already said yes before President Obama announced that he was inviting him, so it would be a feel good win-win for the both of them. Or make Bush look like a jerk if he didnt want to go.

the fact the announcement is delayed “by a few days” says to me they already floated this to Pres Bush (maybe)

But now they are now putting public pressure on Bush and Clinton to go along with it

Even though what obama is expecting is a lot different than heading up fundraising for tsunami relief. Remember the tsumani nations had viable governments, police, militaries and agencies to serve their own people with the aid that was delivered. And the tsunami survivors were unlikely to get on boats within dyas or weeks and flood the US coastline by the tens of thousands.

It was not a “nationbuilding” operation into a black hole with a 200 year history of corruption, like Haiti will be.

Remember, Bush was a LEADER as president and had (some) competent grown ups working for him, obama is NOT and does NOT.

Haiti is a complex issue and former Presidents do NOT have the authority and power to command and coordinate all the agnecies and resources that will be needed.

I do not perceive obama, his administration or pelosi as being willing to grant command and control to President Bush in the name of “bipartisanship”. Do you? And command and control will make or break this operation, not just raising a ton of money and pouring it into a pit of Haitian and UN corruption.

You are correct. From the AFP:

Former US president George W. Bush will join former president Bill Clinton to help lead the US relief effort in response to the earthquake that devastated Haiti, an official close to Bush said Thursday.

Bush, President Barack Obama's predecessor, "will join president Clinton in helping with disaster relief" after the catastrophe, the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity, told AFP.

The official announcement was expected to come from the White House.
