NBC's Chuck Todd reported on MSNBC's 'Morning Joe' this morning that Barack Obama called former President George W. Bush last night to ask him to co-lead relief efforts for earthquake victims in Haiti along with Bill Clinton.
This would be in keeping with Bush asking Clinton and his father President George H. W. Bush to co-lead the relief efforts for the 2004 Sumatra tsunami.
Todd said the White House may wait a few days to make the announcement.

Well this is a dumb idea. Everyone knows George Bush hates black people.
Perhaps Mayor Nagin could help instead.

Naturally, this is an idea ripe with possibilities for scorn and sarcasm and I have plenty of both for the current president. But this situation is so dire and desperate I don’t much care - whatever it takes to get the job done for the immediate suffering in Haiti.

Respectfully President Bush- JUST SAY NO, it is a trap Oh sure, I can see the headlines now: "Dubya Refuses To Help Desperate Haitian Suvivors!!!"
To: Kakaze
Dubya is unable to do this.
He does not have the authority to command this operation.
Do you really think obama, reid and pelosi will pass that power to Bush, and cooperate with providing the resources he asks for in a timely manner?
Or will they sit back, slow leak this operation, and then convene hearings on corruption and waste of US aid which they will blame on BUSH, just in time for the 2010 elections.
The people of Haiti will get a much better shot at recovery if obama and the democrats are forced to OWN the outcome instead of maneuvering this for more partisan warfare
There is no BIPARTISAN in this administration if you think so, then go look for unicorns crapping skittles

surely you jest
obama does NOTHING exceopt for political reasons. read my other posts on this.
Tagging this onto President Bush without the authority power or resources to do it- is purely POLITICAL
It is not petty or mean to expect the POTUS to step up and lead. Even if it cuts into his golf time.
To: misharu
When asked all GWB needs to tell him is he is already planning a mission to Haiti. Even better if GWB makes a appearance with his father in Port Au Prince.

You're getting close. All that's missing is CHENEY calling in HALLIBURTON to clean up the mess with BLACKWATER'S security help and DUBAI, oops make that CARLYLE group to get some hotels and casinos going up over the rubble.

President Bush is a great friend of the Billy Graham family-there is an organization he can team up with. Sarah Palin should also join in. This is a chance for George Bush to live and lead in his faith.
To: kristinn
TRANSLATION: obama doesn't really want to fool with Haiti, it will interfere with his golf game, so, he's trying to pass it off to Bush - whom he hates - to use as more of his "it's Bush's fault" excuses in the future. All the old excuses have been used up.
If I was Bush, I'd tell him that I would "think about it.", then call a news conference and explain that due to all of blame the current president and others have foisted upon me regarding Katrina, I don't see how in the world they can think I would be effective in Haiti...besides, the current president has indicated in one of his "blame bush" sessions and I "hate black people", so I guess it would be inappropriate for me to get involve.
Therefore, Laura and I have made a generous donation to the Red Cross for relief in Haiti, and wise president obama the best of luck in this precarious sitiation.

Dubya needs my posts badly- I hope he gets it,
He and all of us have paid a heavy price for the patrician Bush family trying to stay above the fray of democrat party political reality
