U.S. officials are laying out a massive military response to the Haiti earthquake, saying that ships, helicopters, transport planes and a 2,000-member Marine unit are either on the way or likely to begin moving soon.
Gen. Douglas Fraser, head of U.S. Southern Command, said Wednesday that one of the U.S. Navy's large amphibious ships will likely head to Haiti with a Marine expeditionary unit aboard. Fraser said other U.S. military forces are on alert, including a brigade, which includes about 3,500 troops.
Fraser said during a news conference with other U.S. officials that the Pentagon is "seriously looking at" sending thousands of Marines to assist with disaster relief efforts and security in Haiti.

Yes. If Americans are too stoopid to figure out where to send donations they are to go to whitehouse.gov. to find out.
To: GauchoUSA
Exactly. I would rather see the military and NGOs give direct aid to the people. At least we then know or have more hope that our tax dollars are not ending up in the hands of criminals. I don’t know about NGO workers, but I bet the U.S. Marines don’t have to grease the palms of any local thugs in order to do their work.

Whatever, maybe he’s planning on annexing Haiti so he can have a new pool of voters.

That is pure BS. He could monitor it no matter where he was. The WH travels with him and being in MD puts him a few minutes away regardless. But he is in terrible need of a good Photo op. Isn't the primary religion in Haiti VooDooizum?

I don’t like the idea of sending in our marines to do this kind of work.

Nah, he'll just annex them. Then there can be 58 states. No need to let a crisis go to waste.

I dunno. There was that time we sent troops, the thugs showed up at the dock with guns, and we left.

Just saw a report off of MSNBC, Obambi is having health care meetings all day today. This is at the most opportune time for him, attention is being diverted to other areas. Jobs of course can take a backseat.

If the quake hit government buildings, then a number of corrupt officials are dead. Maybe we can shoot the others on the grounds of looting.

Wasn’t that on Klintoon’s watch? It figures he would order them to retreat. Not that I want our folks hurt or killed, but a big Navy ship sure could make the local thugs stand down if the issue got forced.

Well for example, have you noticed that when a black person is involved he seems to move pretty fast, but how long did it take him to act on the call for more troops for the war on terror in Afghanistan?
I`m not white, but not black either.I`ve noticed that while there`s bigotry on our side, hell,I`ve seen it here, the most egregious and vitriolic crap I`ve ever heard or seen comes from the left, hands down.Look at Harry Reid, they`d have called for an inquisition if that`d been a conservative!

and 100,000 new RAT voters in that pivitol state in time for the elections...how convenient. Never let a crisis go to waste.

"Obama promises all-out relief effort in Haiti (Fast acting)"
Everyone knows what this is about - it's obama's anti-George Bush moment. The kenyan has been trying to outdo the clintons on healthcare, and now he'll try to outshine Bush on this tragedy.
But everyone also know that obama doesn't really give a damn about much other than himself and his agenda; look at his lackadasical attitude toward the Ft. Hood murders, the underwear bomber, and even the troops replenishment in Afghaistan.
If Haiti was predominately white, would he respond so quickly?
That "job event" was probably something he wasn't crazy about attending anyway, so he gets to hold up in the White House to 'ponder' the Haiti situation. Why isn't he on a plane to Haiti already?
Comparing his response to George Bush's response for Katrina is apples and oranges. It was the then-governor of Lousiana who delayed calling in the feds and calling out her own national guard. Then, there was that jerk-off mayor of new orleans who sat on his thumb waiting on someone else to do something for him.
From what I've seen, the Haitian people are out in force, digging through the rubble to find victims and providing aid the best they can; they're not sitting around waiting a FEMA trailer and a free charge card.
The kenyan probably sees this as his redeeming moment in his sagging polls saga, but I think it will be short-lived. A few photo-opps and he'll be headed back tot he golf course to rest up from all his exhaustive pondering.
It's a bad thing that happened in Haiti and my heart goes out to the victims and their families, but for obama to try and boost his ratings on the back of these people, is as shameful as his refusing to salute the flag.
One thing about obama...he reads a teleprompter well, but he is a terrible actor, and he will try and feign concern for this situation - pausing between words to smile for the camera and shout out to a friend.
