Big in Capitol, Reid Stumbles in Nevada

In the nation's capital, Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid is on the brink of pushing through a national health program that Democrats rank alongside the creation of Social Security and Medicare. In Nevada, that very achievement is imperiling his re-election prospects.

At a recent speech at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas, in front of a largely friendly audience, Mr. Reid faced a series of hecklers. When he said only in the U.S. do people go bankrupt because of health costs, a man wearing a red "Dump Harry" shirt said loudly: "It's an outright lie."

Mr. Reid's plight reflects that of his fellow Democrats. The party is anticipating what it sees as a once-in-a-generation win on health care. But some members of the caucus are taking hits for it. The Democrats are bracing for losses in November...

Mr. Reid, 70 years old, is faring worse than most of his colleagues. Besides taking flak from some over health care, he hails from a relatively conservative state with a tough economy. Its unemployment rate, 12.3%, ties for third highest in the nation. Nevada ranks second in mortgages that are in foreclosure.

Adding to Mr. Reid's troubles is the disclosure that in 2008 he suggested voters were ready to support a "light-skinned" African-American with "no Negro dialect" for president.

Through his spokesman, Mr. Reid declined to be interviewed.

When Reid's campaign manager - Brandon Hall - says that internal polling shows Reid ahead, I have this vision of him standing up in the office and asking everyone who is going to vote for Reid to raise their hand.

Rasmussen released a poll from January 11th showing just the opposite of this:

“We should select applicant ‘X’ to be our next college President because, first, he isn’t a really dark black person, and second - he doesn’t sound that black when he speaks”

— that person would be immediately investigated by the campus Compliance/Diversity Office and administration, and terminated within a year.

ANY college. ANY university. IMMEDIATELY terminated.

I’d rather see the old fool stay in the low to mid 40s and think he has a chance of re-election, even tho he’s toast. if he continues to collapse, the Obama crime family will push him aside and the demholes may run a candidate that could win, same as CT, that went from a probable R-pickup to D-hold in an instant...
