TV funnyman Jay Leno is "furious" with how NBC has treated him and Conan O'Brien and is reportedly considering walking away from the network. A day after O'Brien threatened to walk away from NBC, Leno is considering doing the same.

"NBC, MSNBC, CNBC just need to go away. WHo cares"

The people who watch the networks you've mentioned - and in totality, that's still a significant number of people - all care, and many of those people vote. While it may be popular in conservative circles to dismiss the happening in the television wars, as a practical political matter, the late-night shows, especially at election time, sway more voters than we'd probably like to admit.

I personally believe that none of the late-night comics are balanced, some are less biased than others. Leno is probably the closest to being a moderate. Hopefully, he'll return to late-night and once again, displace Letterman who has really grown in popularity the last year - despite of his personal travails and war of insults against Palin's and her family. Anything that hurts David Letterman, helps conservatives. A strong NBC late-night schedule hurts David Letterman.

I wouldn't be a bit surprised if all this is a publicity stunt for The Olympics

I’d still rather see Craig Ferguson on Fox.

Ditto.

Conan has always been way way way down the list, he’s not top tier talent. He had a brief and fleeting moment of fame when he connected a bit with Gen Y as their guy... but it didn’t last and they still try to push him as high calibre... and he’s just not.

In fact, I’m hard pressed to think of anyone besides Leno who could truly draw an audience... Letterman is still out there, but he’s always been second fiddle and frankly hasn’t been entertaining for over a decade, but what are you going to replace him with?

Fallon? Conan? That other goofball retread from “The Man Show”? Be serious, they all pretty much blow.

Exactly....Conan’s ratings were poor on the 1230AM show. The Gen Y crowd liked him, but, they were not watching....as Craig Ferguson started beating him in the ratings at 1230PM. This is the real reason for bringing back Leno at 10PM

NBC was actually making money with the 10PM show with Leno...it was their affiliates who did not like Leno at 10PM....their late newscasts did not get the lead-in audience. NBC was tanking with Conan at 1130PM....and Letterman started beating the Tonight Show in the ratings (which he could not do vs Leno for the past 15 years).

All the other late nite hosts are supporting Conan...because they can best him in the ratings. They do not want Leno back at the Tonight Show because Leno would win in the ratings.

Fox should not pick up Conan...why spend all that money on Conan to lose to both Leno and Letterman?

They’re both unfunny since Obama got into office. They’re running out of material since they won’t do a lot of jokes about Barry and his shenanigans. Hey, Jay and Conan how’s that hope and change working for YOU? If FOX were really smart they’d make Ferguson an offer. Let him do more comedy skits too.

Charlie Rose took over the PBS time slot.. so now you turn it on, you’ll just wind up with your blood pressure up and wondering how so many “educated” people are collectively so dumb.

Last time I watched Leno was when Rush was on (and only that segment).

It was probably the only time I’ve turned on his program in the last ten years.

This drama bores me.

Off topic, but still related:

Over on the Weather Channel, they now have that wake up with Al (Roker) crap on in the mornings. They are trying to make it the channel for weather/news/financial updates, but all use NBC channels. (MSNBC/NBC/CNBC)

I wonder if they're somehow tied in with the whole global warming schtick and GE funded? (I know the WC is definitely pushing it.)

(Miller would) kick Letterman’s wrinkled ass and ratings would soar, to boot.

He'd kick Letterman around like (insert some random obscure historical footnote of a guy) did to (insert some other random, obscure historical footnote of a guy) at (some random place, that no one has ever heard of)!!

I like Dennis Miller, but he's not for everyone. I'm smarter than the average Obama supporter, and some of his references even go over my head. :-)

I think Conan is getting screwed big time in this situation. Go to Fox Conan.

What I want to see: Last Tonight Show with Conan - Last Line “Your Mom’s BXX” - Fade to Black. Conan goes to Fox.

For those that dont know the “YMB” line has been uttered by many Dj’s as their last lines on the air before the firing. DO THE BIT, CONAN.

You know, you’re exactly right. Jay announced in 2004 that he would leave in 2009. At the time, I thought it was a very stupid thing to do. Who knows what their exact mindset will be five years in advance?

Jay was given another slot. Conan was given the 11:30 slot.

I see a lot of folks taking NBC to task here and I have to say, they’re just flat wrong. NBC took lemons and tried to make Lemonade out of them. Now Jay’s unhappy.

Well gee Jay, you’re the guy who thought he was the sage in 2004, when YOU set these things into motion.

So leave. That’s what you said you were going to do. And don’t let the barn door hit ya, where the good Lord split ya.

“He’s the only funnyman in late night TV.”
He is funny. I watched him for awhile but was turned off by his personel attackes on Rush, Bush and Sarah. Not funny attacks; but just mean. IMO

I know it’s different strokes for different folks, but I can’t watch Craig for more than about five minutes before I run screaming for the remote.

I find him seriously annoying, and about as unfunny as it gets.

I’m only posting this because I wonder if others out there have had the same reaction.
