FreeRepublic has many options that allow all users to view specific topic categories the way they want.
For example, if you want to view all categories, link to this page:
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/*/index
If you, however, dont want to see blogs, chit chat, religion, etc, link to this page:
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/news-forum/index
If you are only interested in a specific subject, lets say 2nd Amendment Issues, you can also sort just by keywords like this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/banglist/index?tab=articles
The architecture of this site allows for the end user to see the content he wants in the way he wants more than most other forum platforms. This site also has XML feeds on which, you can use various widgets around the web to actually feed you information you want. For example, if you want a feed of just breaking news articles, you can link to it using the RSS link at the bottom of the page like this:
http://www.freerepublic.com/tag/breaking-news/feed.rss
You can even use these feeds to display custom content on a mobile device that is formatted best for that device if you like. For example, if you have a Blackberry, you can use this app with the RSS feed of the content you like.

Speaking of mobile devices, weve had a lot of reports from members that the architecture of this site allows it to work far better on most mobile devices than other forum platforms.
We have one member who has actually created a desktop AIR application he uses to give him a custom view of the sites content he wants to see using these feeds.
As you can see, you can do a lot with this site and filter what you want. This isnt a one-size fits all site. A little exploring and you can get exactly the content you want delivered to you the way you want.
We give you the tools and information, but we aren't Nanny State Mods who will do it for you.
Might it ever be possible to get FR on an iPhone?
How do I filter out those darn Admin Mod vanities?!
(woohoo! *ducking and running*)
FR actually works fine on an iPhone/iTouch just by typing in the URL into the browser. At that, it is one of the only forums I’m on that does work on it.
I’ve also used it on a Droid and BlackBerry Storm with no problems.
Oops! Typo.
What I meant to say was “Thank you for that information, Mr. Admin Moderator.”
I guess this means I have to share my AIR app?
Check it out on this emulator:
The only problem is you can’t change that to landscape view.
When one clicks vies all why cant one see the the forum topic, blogger and personal, religion, etc. right there next to each article?
sorry “view all”
Is there some sort of widget I can use with FR in order to ONLY see vanities and opuses?
Free beer and pretzels would be great!
Noting to pass along. Good idea.
Question:
How do you say eliminate or block maybe two forums from being displayed? It’s either all or one isn’t it? In other words say I’d like to follow all but Religion and chit chat. How do you do that?
Use any RSS reader with these two links:
we aren’t Nanny State Mods who will do it for you.

So many options yet people are crying for even more. I’m just gonna spend the bucks and go wireless all around.. :-]
Go figure. lol
OK, that’s easy - thanks!
in The Graduate
