Democrats scramble to defend Harry Reid's racism
The Macon County Conservative Examiner ^ | 1-12-10 | Robert Moon

Now that Harry Reid's bigoted sentiments against "Negroes" have been exposed, the same liberals who have spent the last year screaming down any and all criticism of their ideas as "racist" now say they want an "open and honest debate" about race...

I just have to wonder......what if some gutsy Republican issued a press release or did a press conference and, say, congratulates Obama on being a successful Negro? Something like that.

Then...pull out the stopwatch to time the howls from the left of “RACISM!!!!!!!!!!”

Anyone wanna bet that’s exactly what would happen? I think it’d be fun.

an "open and honest debate" about race

You mean one of those debates where everyone points fingers at the white folks and yell insults, calls them racists and blames all the problems on them? One of those open and honest debates?

I'd rather go a different way. Here's my input: Much of the black community in America does not speak well, does not value education, lacks discipline, lacks a work ethic, and cannot seem to form stable families. There are big problems in the black community. These problems are self made. They are not my fault, and I feel no compulsion to help fix them.

So, does Harry Reid consider Cynthia McKinney or Sheila Jackson-Lee fit candidates for the Democratic Nomination for President of The United States of America, or is their skin color too dark and their accents too Negro sounding? It would be a shame if he would want to exclude them from the Presidential race just based on that...

Need to mount a campaign to send “dirty Harry” a bar of soap.

You are correct. The issue isn’t racism. I don’t think what Reid said is racist. At least I never took the term negro to be derogatory, just out of fashion, and what he was saying is entirely true. The real issue is the double standard that Democrats get away with.

Who cares about their skin color?
Cynthia McKinney is too dumb and way too crazy.
Sheila Jackson Lee is just dumb.

BTW McKinney was at one time my Congresswoman. I never said I would not vote for her because of her color or her diction. I told people I would not vote for her for the reasons given above. She is dumb and just plain crazy.

Another point, Reid made a truly offensive statement when the said the war in Iraq “is lost”, while American soldiers were fighting and dying in the field. That was inexcusable, but didn’t get a tenth the coverage this petty remark is.

I’m enjoying the “fallout” from this...but to me it’s a big nothing. I still believe in the standard of “intent”, and I don’t think Mr. Reid intended his remark as a negative. Obviously he’s guilty of not thinking before he spoke, but then again we ARE talking about Reid here.

Harry Reid seems to care about skin color...Or this thread not about Harry Reid?

If Cynthia McKinney or Sheila Jackson-Lee were smart, would they even be Democrats or even further left as in Cynthia's case?

It was funny that a [black] editorialist yesterday was using “he’s telling the truth” as a defense of Reid.

Telling the truth is never a defense when the speaker is a conservative.

What you posted is the truth. What you posted is also considered “racist”.

My comment was based on Liz Cheney’s assertion that people she knows don’t discuss color.
I never discussed McKinney’s color when she was my congresswoman, but did discuss her lack of intelligence and mental stability.

Here’s the translation of Reid’s comment - “Obama is OK, he’s an Oreo.”

Except that what he said wasn’t racist. It was an accurate statement. White guilt folks like to act all progressive and say they vote for blacks and all but only when those blacks aren’t “too black” for comfort. That’s why they love Obama.
