I know that there are many here at FR who disagree with Mormon theology and I'm hoping this thread won't become hijacked towards that end. I thought it might be of interest to note the latest Gallup polling results.

I noticed they don’t separate out the Southern Baptists. They lump us in with all protestants to get the percents down.

Wouldn’t be as much Mormon press if they had.

So just like America in general, Mitt couldn’t get the dance steps right with Mormons either?

Romney and Reid are conservative?

Not on this planet.

Yeah, it seems like the liberal 8% of Mormons are all prominent politicians.

That said, though members of a false religion, Mormons generally vote conservative and are valuable allies in the culture wars.

You are making this up.

If they elect Reid and Romney, they are not conservative.
Delusional, yes. Conservative, no.

Mormons had little or nothing to do with electing Romney. There are very few Mormons in Mass.

I think the Mormon population in NV is a bit larger, but they were not a major factor in electing Reid.

Don’t forget prop 8. If not for the Mormons CA would probably have homosexual marriage right now.

Another point, Nancy Pelosi is a “Catholic” as was Ted Kennedy and Jimmy Carter is a “Baptist”. My point is , Mitt and Harry don’t necessarily represent the views of most Mormons.

That is not true.

You are trying to have it both ways. Logic says you cannot.

Since only about 40% of Catholics attend mass regularly, the 39% conservative sounds about right. If anyone wants to know what Catholics believe, the catechism is readily available. Pols like Pelosi, Kennedy, McCaskill, Durbin, etc. can call themselves anything they like, but Catholics are stauchly prolife.

What point is that?

First, Ted, Carter, and Harry might be non-conservatives
and losers, but they do not regularly hide
behind their religion like Mitt Romney and his legion
of RomneyBOTs do over and over and over and over and
over and. ...
Post one instance if you disagree.

Second, where is the “Catholic” or “Baptist” post
on FR (or anywhere else) every 72 hours purporting
they are all “conservative”.
Post one. I am not sure you can.

The Mormons are still the Banditti of the plains as much as they were in the 1850s.

..the Southern Baptist Convention is NOT Protestant---to lump very conservative evangelical churches together with many dead or dying Protestant churches dilutes the numbers and lets me know someone possibly had an agenda.

What's that famous saying about statistics?

The Mormons I work with (and have worked with in the past)
are all very conservative.
That poll does not surprize me at all.
