For later. Pretty lame for my first post.
They put the best players on the field regardless of race, why not with coaches also?
It is played in two versions, the Semi-Bad-Weather version, outside (sort of) on Astroturf or grass with pads and the Really-Bad-Weather version, played on hardwood, indoors, without pads.
In either case, the defining characteristics of the sport are no longer the minor differences in ball shape and size, or the size of the field, or the method of enacting play for the score. The real definition of the sport is in its emphasis on prancing, dancing, showboating, flashing gang signs and the ubiquitous inability of the players to put a baseball cap on straight, or speak intelligibly.
In round two of the search for diversity in Thugball, the two official leagues have reached out to druggies, felons, perverts and the occasional animal abuser. A regular rite of passage for the player who has just signed, or is about to sign a contract worthy of Croesus, is to appear contritely before the press admitting to his foibles and promising that he has learned from them.
Support and PR for this sport is boldly and bravely offered by a corps of sycophants and lackeys who expend vast amounts of energy convincing the American Public that what happens in the fantasy world of Thugball is far more important than the social, economic or moral structure of their society.

(You'll have to excuse me now. I have a court date to have my name changed to a number I found sewn in my shorts, right under the words “inspected by”.)
I, too, have always been enamored of that idea. Said owner or owners would, however, be dead before sunset.
Coming right up! In about a month or so, by the way, I will post a vanity describing what an incredibly eye-opening experience that bartending has been for me over the last two years. I’m finishing my master’s degree, but as far as learning experiences go, NOTHING can compare to bartending in Loudoun County, VA. Sadly, everything I’ve learned tells me that our great country is doomed. God help us, is all I can say.
It’s tough to care about an organization that thinks that Rush Limbaugh doesn’t have the moral decency to be among them...
...but Michael Vick does.

These teams did violate the intent of the rule. Of course the punchline is they will punish themselves, by making their hiring decisions before doing interviews they put themselves into a position to ignore talent. And not just talented black coaches but talent across the board, part of why you bring in multiple people for jobs is to give yourself more information for your decision. The Redskins decided they didn’t care that Shanahan has had limited success without Elway, and fielded downright mediocrity in his last couple of years in Denver, they didn’t care if he was a fit for their system or personnel, they decided he was their dude in November and nothing was going to stop them. The Seahawks seem to have gone on a similar path, the ignore Carroll’s 33-31 record in the pros and decided he was their guy with apparently very little vetting. This isn’t going to go well for either team.
The Rooney rule doesn’t pressure anybody to hire them, they just have to interview one black candidate. And black coaches, including a guy who got his interview because of the Rooney rule and knocked it out of the park, have won 2 of the last 3 Super Bowls.
Herm was a head coach before the Rooney rule.
I stand corrected though he was still incompetent. When a head coach has to hire someone to specifically manage the clock time during a game, well.........
And yet The Chiefs were willing to give up draft picks for tampering with him while he was under contract. And people wonder why they stink.
Yes, as a JETS fan I was more than glad to see him go however I could never figure out why the Chiefs wanted him so bad.
Perhaps his current job as an analyst is the correct occupation for him.

“And black coaches, including a guy who got his interview because of the Rooney rule and knocked it out of the park, have won 2 of the last 3 Super Bowls.”
This shows why I think the rule is so immoral. Why do we even care the race of who wins the super bowl? The 2/3 stat certainly doesn’t mean that black coaches are better than white coaches does it?..so why give the stat. Why do teams have to ‘look at other coaches’? Its insulting to the coaches who are ‘looked at’ in my opinion.
That was in response to the guy wanting a comparison of coaching records by color, so I gave him one.
Show/cross country horse jumping, rodeo and dog agility trials are the only sports I will watch.
They’re totally “ism” free.
Since it is Al Davis, the NFL will never give him credit.
