Several blasts of arctic air have gripped the eastern two-thirds of the country since the beginning of the new year. In the South, the extreme cold has been threatening crops, and temperatures tonight could be the most damaging for some.
While temperatures will rebound throughout the upcoming week, a late-week rain storm could cause even more damage to Southern crops.
Tonight Will Be Most Damaging in Florida
So far, citrus-growers in Florida have gotten by with only light damage following several nights of sub-freezing temperatures over the past week. Tonight will likely prove more destructive as temperatures drop to the lowest levels in over 20 years.

Sounds like Fla needs some cloud cover tonight but a look at the radar doesn’t prove promising.

We beat GLOBAL WARMING YEA - where is our government to take the credit... o .. I know it is about money not anything else, why CDC never cured the common cold in 50 years - you fix it, you no longer get funding.
Well I am proud of my fellow Americans that we beat global warming despite the idiots in government only looking for more tax money.
Guess it is why they are not happy with this solution.

I am a native Floridian who lived in NJ and PA for 5 years so I know what cold weather is. I live on the space coast...folks...it snowed here yesterday afternoon. IT IS FREEZING!!!!! 25 degrees last night.
To: rdl6989
However, the AVERAGE temperature of the earth is increasing. local temperatures still vary. That means somewhere there is a spot where temperature is a thousand degrees to make up for all this cold. The people in that area must really be sufferting. And if we only knew where that was, the media would be covering it like crazy.

Freeze in Florida Tonight Will Be Worst Since 1989The freeze of '89 caused the utility to have rolling blackouts. A very large portion of the citrus crop was lost and caused many growers to move their groves and operations south. Polk County, the largest citrus producer in the state, lost nearly a third of it's groves.
