Less than a year ago, ABC's fear-mongering Sam Champion was discouraging people from moving to Florida because of the supposed danger of disastrous sea-level rises due to global warming. Maybe Sam was on to somethingbut for the diametrically opposite reason . . .
Check out the Weather Channel's forecast for "Frostproof, Florida" for tonight: 22 degreesa full 10 degrees below freezing level. Yikes! Maybe it's a mistake to move to Florida because the climate is . . . just too darn cold.

Freezin’ in Frostfree, Florida ping to Today show list.
Bad news. If it stays below 26 for more than 5 hours, it’s liable to kill the orange trees as well as the oranges.
I hope they manage to get through the night without too many fruit trees getting killed.
And that’s if the tsunamis from Al’s global warming sea-level rises don’t get the trees first ;-)
Should I be buying orange juice futures;)
This is a real hardship for the fruit growers and commercial farmers. They might loose much of their annual income.
I was just talking to my son about smudge pots, which is what they used to use to try to keep the trees from freezing. Now I suppose they’re illegal.
My son is very green, but he agreed it would be worth spewing a little smoke around once every 20 years or so if it saves the trees.
But I imagine the Environmental Police probably think differently.
So are they gonna rename the town? I’m just saying...
If they named it “North Pole, Florida” maybe they could get some Christmas-card stamping business ;-)
No idea. I don’t follow the orange juice futures. Usually, though, the pros keep on top of the weather reports and anticipate what’s likely to happen.
FWIW, I just checked the futures for last Friday, and it looks as if they rose over the course of the day and ended at or near their highs:

You need to check with Beeks and see what the Citrus Report says.
OWL GORE is a man made disaster.
Al would simply explain that the reason you’re freezing in Florida is because the Arctic ice cap is melting, and that ice-cold water travels down via the Atlantic Conveyor system and, because freshwater is more buoyant than seawater, disrupts the normal ocean currents. Sea surface temperatures then drop, and the climate in areas surrounding the sea, such as Florida, accordingly drops also.
Or something like that. But first you have to buy into the claim that the Arctic ice cap is melting enough to cause all of that. I don’t.
There actually is a “Christmas” Florida. Little township east of Titusville.
It will be OK. The government will bail them out if they promise to produce nothing but Tampico for the school lunch program.
You must be getting our cold front! We were 10 degrees at the Austin TX airport on Friday night and it got down to 17 last night. It’s supposed to hit 23 tonight. Thank goodness it had no precip with it or it would have been a real mess.
Sucks about the oranges though. Whatever happened to setting large metal trashcans on fire in between the trees? EPA says you can’t do that any more? Figures.
