WASHINGTON (AFP) – President Barack Obama said Friday that a disappointing report showing 85,000 US job losses in December showed that "the road to recovery is never straight."
Obama's comments came after the Labor Department reported a worse-than-expected drop in December payrolls while the unemployment rate held at 10.0 percent, highlighting a slow and painful recovery from recession.
"The jobs numbers that were released by the Labor Department this morning are a reminder that the road to recovery is never straight and that we have to continue to work every single day to get our economy moving again," Obama said as he unveiled plans for tax credits for "green jobs."
Still, he said the employment picture is better when he began as president, when the economy was shedding some 700,000 jobs per month.
"Job losses for the last quarter of 2009 were one-tenth of what we were experiencing in the first quarter," he said.

Just as Afganistan is a roadless (NATO is attempting to complete the first one and keep it open) country, the US is a country without a road to recovery as yet. Recovery means increased credit as new debt is issued, increased use of energy (electrons and BTUs of heat must be produced, and a vision of a goal of producing someting tangible for resale. Increasing financial services and paper instruments will produce no recovery. Healthcare is being deconstructed, not improved. The administration is premature to even mention recovery. Further abyssal revelations of our financial predicament are yet forthcoming, as rollover interest on fatally huge credit derivatives have yet to emerge (a conceptual total is envisioned by those who ‘know’, but the facts are doled out at weekly and monthly intervals in a seemingly never ending stream. The unwinding of credit derivatives is itself a straight road, interrupted as frequently as possible by diversional ploys. A crooked road to recovery is a concept not yet realized in reality.
It would be funny if it wasn’t so sad.
And frightening.
Liberals for years have sought to replace the principles our Founding Fathers set in place with their own .. needless to say, there is nothing like the original that satisfies as well.
From the progressive income tax to moving away from the gold standard, to embracing social security and medicare as tools to advance an agenda.. they definitely have their finger prints over much of what is wrong with this country today.
yet they continue to work toward their goal of out-and-out total control aka commieism, for all intent, and not under the Constitution nor the form of gubamint our grand and great grandfathers fought for and many died to secure.
this bash of the economy has been a deliberate orchestrated attack for decades.
Obama is still building the winding road to
Clinton’s bridge to the 21st century.

Obama was but a babe when he started down that long road himself.. that long long winding road .. that road that ran thru Kenya, Indonesia, hawaii and Illinois.. and places we may never know.
